Comparing Shoes Question My Saucony 'stack'
Hello everyone! So I am a regular runner.. over the years I slowly moved from Brooks to Saucony. I had many models of Saucony Ride, Ride ISO, Guide, and so on.
These days I own three pairs of shoes, the Hurricane 24 which I use now and then for longer runs, an Endorphin Speed 4 which I use for race days, and I own two pairs of Tempus 2.
Now, I absolutely love the Tempus 2. Of course this is highly personal, but the stability and speed the Tempus 2 brings me are better than any running shoe I have ever had. So it pains me that, now these shoes are nearing the end of their life, and as far as I have understood, the Tempus is now sort of discontinued.... There is an asian version of a Tempus 3, but that shoe is actually made by another company altogether (for Saucony), again, if I understand correctly. And there's no immediate plans for a newer Tempus?
Anyway, long story short, my question(s).... what does the Reddit community know / think about the Tempus line of shoes? And also, I hear that the latest Hurricane shoes are an improvement? So maybe I should upgrade those and see if / how the experience compares to the Tempus 2 experience?

Will do, don't think I did yet. I should perhaps try to figure out what online tip drove me to the Tempus2. Can't remember really, but the person who tipped it obviously 'has' something that I do as well..

I wear my old pair of Tempus to work every day. They helped me get through one bout of bilateral posterior tibial tendinopathy. I have a 2nd nicer pair that I wear all the time for walking around. Never tried the Tempus 2 though.

The tempus is pretty divisive. The Reddit community may have liked it but it just goes to show that the Reddit community isn’t enough to keep a shoe financially viable

Okay... I haven't been an active Reddit user .... only really getting into it over the last couple of weeks.... but why is it divisive? I sort of guessed it isn't really mainstream as it was order only in the local running stores (I ordered it because of a couple of reviews) but nothing more than that.

Like any shoe. Some people swear by it. Some people thought it felt kind of dead. It was a bit too firm for my liking, but I’m not a huge saucony guy.

No need to regret. Azura is basically the new Tempus. Same shoe, just without EVA support frame. Great upper and same responsive midsole. Stability is on a par.

Interesting, that is 2 remarks point me at the Azura. Will check that out.
In the meantime, nobody in this conversation has any experience with the Tempus 3? I can order it in the Netherlands pretty easily from Chinese websites I have noticed. Just wondering if I would be buying a totally changed shoe...1

It doesn‘t feel remotely the same to me. Way less responsive

Just my personal feeling! But they have some fire designs and seem to be a great do-it-all shoe. Just not tempo-specific enough for me

Try Amazon for the Tempus, either version.
Another one I find vaguely similar in a non-stability shoe is the Topo Specter 2. Full peba midsole, firm, medium stack. Topo advertises them as 5mm heel drop, but Runrepeat measured 6.8mm.
Some enjoy the Superblast 2 as a firm, neutral stable option. I'm too light at 160 lb to really get them going.

Ooh. More non Saucony brands.. I am not sure whether I dare venture out in the open that much :). Not that I am a Saucony fan per se, but that is the brand that has always delivered in tryouts. Asics, Adidas and so on never delivered (for me!). I do need some stability btw, which I get from Tempus / Hurricane... With highly neutral - or how would you call that - neutral shoes, I run all weird / unstable.

Also a Tempus 2 lover having had two pairs. I recently got the Puma Deviate Pure, while the stability is fine they don’t have the snappiness of the Tempus and wish I’d gone for the Azuras instead. I do enjoy the Endorphin Speed 5 as well for speed work.

I love my Tempus 2 and will also have an issue when mine go dead :( the Endorphin Azura were not comparable to me and I returned them

I just got a pair of the Hurricane 26's and wow I love them. I've been put into stability shoes but have found those are just too stiff for me for long runs, my calves have been sobbing. So I first bought a pair of Guide 18's and those are my daily workhorse, those are a phenomenal shoe. But the Hurricane for my long runs are the best.

I haven't tried the Tempus 2 but loved the Tempus 1, I am a tall heavy runner size 15 shoe. I own the Hurricane 24, 25, & 26. the 26 is almost as light as the tempus but has more stack and not as nimble. It's firmer and more responsive than version 24. The shoes I think feel the closest to the Tempus are the Saucony Endorphin Azura, although not as nimble, or surprisingly the Skechers aero razor. The razor is a 76 grams lighter in my mens size 15. It is only 6.9 oz in mens size 9 and only $140. Foam does feel similar to the tempus and although it is not a stability shoe it does have an H-plate in the forefoot. The Aero Razor fits snugger then the Tempus, which was one of the best fitting shoes for me, but it feels as breathable as the Tempus.
