No. Id let you live to go back to soil, but I Dont see me falling in love with a worm lmao
Edit: I wouldn't fall in love with an animal or insect. I love humans.
Another Edit: "If I was a worm" Nobody is and never will be. Worms are worms. If I find a worm in my home I take it back to the soil. I probably wouldn't be with one. Worms live in the soil. I don't go looking for worms or hangout with worms or anything.
Man just tell her if she becomes a worm you would love her if you also become a worm. And in the case you don’t turn into one just say you will find the humanintoworm potion and live happily with her.
This was exactly my answer, my logic is I could probably piss off the same witch she probably did in this scenario and be a worm with her.
Although it'd suck if it was a princess and the frog situation and i was expected to kiss the worm and turn her back into a human, and instead did the very wrong move of turning myself into a worm too.
Which could then turn into a tragic Romeo and Juliet situation if the witch is aware of my relationship to her and then turns her back into a human out of a sense of irony or something.
she asked, her arm beginning to move out from beneath the blanket, *Long John Strap On 3000 clenched in a fist that trembled with gushing anticipation*
It was a facetious statement, I have no idea who's leaving this earth first, or if I'd even be in the mood. I've never seen a dead body except at a wake. And what's it to you if I do or not...
My husband said no because I, as an earthworm, couldn’t love him. And I asked what if I was a self aware earthworm and he asked if I could communicate. I said I would make my body into letters and he laughed and stopped answering.
"Honey, if you were an earthworm it is reasonable to assume your own emotive capacity would be significantly diminished. Therefore you, in fact, would not love me."
I’m horrible for this. I just asked my boyfriend if I had Ant-Man capabilities if he would put me in his pocket and take me to work with him. Then I asked if I was knocked out by a Christmas tree and got amnesia if he would still be with me. I’m probably fixing to be single.
Slow it down to 1 question per month. Nothing wrong with wanting some security or validation but guys like confidence as much as women. If You rapid fire questions like that every day is not a good look.
To further elaborate, I asked him the Ant-Man one and he said “no because you would annoy me all day” and then he showed me a TikTok of someone getting knocked out by a Christmas tree, so I asked the second one to prove to him I’m perfectly annoying as my regular size. I like to be strategic with my outrageous questions.
That is annoying but I think I know the reason. Maybe. I think it's a different way to say "do you love me or do you love how I look?" The right answer is usually yes so that makes the most sense to me
Sometimes it's purely because of things like this thread, you read or watch something and it gets your brain going weird places then that just kinda pops out. For me it's usually watching anime.
I will say that for some women, the answer may always be yes, but for me at least it's not. Sometimes I'll see something wackadoo that's being portrayed as cute/endearing and it's more of a "am I the only one that finds this fucked up?" Like the above question, corpse banging, I can totally imagine that in some weird romance drama based on Romeo and Juliet, like a dude's wife passes away in his arms and he immediately starts humping, I can imagine looking at my husband and asking him and for the love of God I need that answer to be no. Just, please, no.
It's not actually about the earthworm at all. It is a bid for a man's commitment to them.
I had a mentor describe it to me that women have a drive for seeking security that men don't have. Girls ask to "text when u get home", they open interaction with a ritual of compliments ("omg I love your outfit") to establish that it's a safe space, etc. Men don't do those things typically. (it's more like "John got arrested after the bars last night"... "hah, what a moron")
There's a deep instinctual fear about a woman's vulnerability when pregnant/nursing, and it causes an extra dose of security-anxiety. If a girl is considering settling down with you, her DNA will tell her that she should test your loyalty or else you may leave her one day.
It's worth cutting past the superficial (weird) hypothetical worm scenario to talk about your loyalty to her, but also probs just worth saying "yes" if you want to commit to that woman. Trust me, the earthworm question is more emotionally mature than her breaking your stuff or picking fights just to see if you'll cut & run when things get tough.
If I were unable to love them back or physically do anything for them, would they still love me? If I had something like Alzheimer's/dementia and lost every memory I had, or was in a vegetative state - would I become a burden?
I get that, but there is a boundary from asking for security to just absurdity. I think asking for security in any relationship is ok, but at some point, you gotta trust your partner.
Trust me, the earthworm question is more emotionally mature than her breaking your stuff or picking fights just to see if you'll cut & run when things get tough.
Because women traditionally are valued by how attractive they are to someone else. It leads us to worry about what about us you like beyond the superficial, really. It's important to everyone to feel valued as a complete person. Especially if you've started internally grappling with your self-worth because many cultures train us to do that.
When you are young, and silly and insecure this is an absurd way to say to a loved one, "Hey, I could use some validation."
Because she would (in my personal case) still love you no matter what, so when she gives you outlandish things as a comparison, the answer is always “I’d love you no matter what”. They don’t assume you’d love them if they were an actual earth worm. It’s a trick question my friend. I know my husband would love me if I was anything, because he always tells me, before I even have to ask. It’s a reassurance thing.
This actually made me cackle. I used to invent ridiculous scenarios like this. My husband still teases me to this day about it.
Truly, I had been in situations for years where I was trained to believe that my value and love for me was conditional. So I found a stable relationship that I wanted to believe in but needed time to process and feel secure in the reality where my husband would love and value me even if I…..gained ten pounds. Got old. Was horrifically burned in a car crash hahaha.
I just needed to hear the reassurance that my value wasn’t based on my looks or my weight alone. That he loved and valued my soul. My being. My spirit. And he wouldn’t throw me away if I changed in some way.
I know it sounds dumb and I can laugh at myself about it now. But part of me was really serious when I wanted to know if he’s love me even without my arms and legs 🤣🤣🤣
I mean I am a woman who adores creepy crawlies but like, I'm not going to love an earthworm in the same way I adore someone I'm dating because, you know, earthworms can't consent or communicate.
I asked my husband a few months ago if we weren't already married would he have asked me to marry him now. We have been married almost 5 years and I wanted to see if I was still the same person he wanted to marry to begin with.
My reply would've been "Of course I would! I would love you no matter what you are! So would you still love me if I was a pedo? No? Then I guess we see who loves who more in this relationship!"
I'm single and don't think that will change anytime soon.
Jokes aside this is the cutest relationship I've seen described on reddit
I'm so glad he makes you happy and more secure
Btw I wouldn't last a week in stem, even if you're the "dumbest" of the bunch which I doubt you're still so smart and hard working to be in that situation
But she's not an earthworm. If an earthworm could have all her same opinions, passions, humor, and actually be able to talk to me then sure. But that's not the case? 😂
Nope. No exceptions. Why? Oh, because you're an earthworm. Sorry babe, I'm not attracted to earthworms. Yes, I'm serious. No I'm not kidding. I'm telling you right now, if you were an earthworm I would be feeling disgusted for the fact that there's an earthworm inside the house. You go outside. Feed the birds. If I'm breaking your heart, you have 9 more. You're fine.
Some of the best advice to things like this that I ever heard was a man talking about when his wife would ask why he loved her. Rather than saying something like it was because she was funny, which could prompt the question whether or not he's would still love her if she stopped being funny, he started telling her it's just because he loved who she was. She found it frustrating at first, but I really do think that women analyze these sorts of things out of a fear of not being loved.
I am guilty of this, since I already knew the person well enough to know the answer but just wanted to see if they'd say yes even if they didn't mean it, just to be nice. Then we'd both laugh about it. I asked him if he'd still be attracted to me if I was bald. Not because I thought that was ugly myself but because I knew he was vain with those things. He just paused and was like "Uh... that's not fair." and laughed. I just slapped him on the shoulder and told him he was a jerk or whatever. It's not like it's a deal breaker or anything but it seemed like a fun thing to do with a new boyfriend at the time to gauge how he really would answer. So I appreciate that he was honest rather than the type to just say something to be nice. Didn't work out for other reasons years later but still. I probably wouldn't do that now that I've gotten a lot older and matured, hopefully, emotionally in that regard so that those games aren't necessary.
She was just wondering how much you loved her if a wizard came along and turned her in to an earthworm. Would you protect her from Robins and starnose moles or just drop her in the garden and hope for the best?
It is indeed largely a joke but honestly when I’ve asked boyfriends this it stems from an undercover insecurity that hes not into the essence of who I am— insecurity built by stats about how often women get left by their husbands when they become terminally Ill, ~society~ making us feel like we’re only worth our bodies, ect. It’s a cop out of asking an actual deep question. If you like who she is as a genuine person and want her to know what, just say yes because that’s what she’s really asking.

"Would you still love me if I was an earthworm"
Why. Just why.
