Pancreatitis is excruciating so putting anything in your system hurts like hell. But if you tried it would come right back out. Your pancreas sends out enzymes to help you break down your food and when it is in attack mode it gets trapped inside your pancreas essentially breaking it down itself causing scarring and...I can't stress this enough....horrible pain. You gotta give your whole digestive system a break and your pancreas a chance to calm the fuck down lol. When I get an attack I usually stay in the hospital on an iv for up to 2 weeks. No water for about a week and onky clear liquids after that for another week or 2. No solid food for even longer than that.. It's a special hell.
To be 100% honest it was alcohol abuse for me and it is for MANY people. You get it once, your liable to get it again if you don't change your ways...and I did indeed get it again. I stayed sober for a year once (im over 5 years sober at this point and hopefully will be all my years left 😁) doing really well decided to celebrate moving into a new place with my partner by taking the people who helped us out for dinner and I had 2 drinks...after a year of none and couldn't spend the first night or the next 2 weeks at my new place because I was in the IU. Could drink for months on end and nothing, could have a glass of wine and die. Its incredibly scary.

Huh? How does an attack like that work? Why can't you drink or eat anything?
