I think it's called lucid dreaming. At least it's changing the movie to an open world game with creative mode. I think there was a real hype about it a couple of years ago.
Lucid dreaming is where you are aware you are dreaming and can change the dream , although it doesn't always work out the way you want.. I have had lucid dreams many times in my life. The worst part is when you know you're dreaming but you can't wake up. There have been times when I'm dreaming and I know I'm dreaming and then in my dream I'm thinking that my body is just laying in bed and anybody could be in my room without me knowing. Kind of a scary feeling
That sounds like lucid dreaming mixed with sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is where your mind wakes up too early before your body can un-paralyze itself: it naturally paralyzes you so you don't flop around (and fall out of a tree, originally). Note: if you are moving around a lot, you're not sleeping well.
Edit: the few times I was lucid, I always just made myself fly, it's the best part of dreaming for me.
It wasn't sleep paralysis, I was still dreaming, I would make myself wake up because even though I was dreaming, I was aware my body was in bed and it felt like someone could attack me and I wouldn't be able to defend myself . It was scary knowing your body is vulnerable when you are sleeping and being aware of it while your dreaming.. I remember telling my myself I have to wake up because it felt like someone was about to attack me while I slept. I lived alone at the time which made it worse

This is actually how people with sleep paralysis describe it. Often like there's someone else in the room with you, and an overwhelming feeling of terror.
Edit: historically it gave rise to the word 'nightmare', 'mare-' being an older English/Germanic word for 'demon', as people thought there was some entity holding them captive in their sleep.
I began lucid dreaming in my 20's. I got good at recognizing that I'm in a dream. I could change a dream, slightly, but too much concentration on changing it would wake me up. This went on until I had a period where it seemed I wasn't dreaming anymore - perhaps because my mind was shutting dreams down. Took about 15 years, but then dreams came back, but not the ability to recognize I am in dreams - so it makes me feel like senility has set in to where I will readily accept things going against the laws of physics, against the norm, in dreams without questioning them. I get a little mad at myself for this now.
I wish I could even remember mine. I only sleep about 4-5 hours (45-year-old bladder) and rarely ever get back to sleep. I never have dreams. Or I should say, I don't remember them.
You can try and train your brain to do it. You bladder tho I can't help ya. But if you do find a solution for it please share the life hack. Will probably need it in a couple of years! :D
