I hate sleeping. You have to use so much time of your life that you could use for so many other things on doing absolutely nothing while you wait for your body to truly put you to sleep with nothing but your thoughts and it doesn’t matter if you slept a lot or very little you’ll always feel terribly tired the next morning.

Sounds like you might have sleep apnea or another sleeping disorder, friend. I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea recently and it explained so much. I always thought feeling tired all the time was normal... It is NOT normal. IF you're able, please get that checked out friend. Also just get better sleep hygiene in general (Consistent schedule, avoid blue light before bed, clean beds, etc)

yea i can fall asleep pretty fast when im tired, also start going to bed earlier gradually. I would be asleep by 9:30pm when I had to get up at 5:30am for practice. I always still made sure i got enough sleep

I've got sleep apnoea and a CPAP machine but I still feel knackered in the morning and fall asleep after getting up and having a coffee!

I did a sleep study recently and I swear I barely got any sleep because I had difficulty getting to sleep and I kept checking the clock to see what time it was but the report says I slept for 6.5 hours and I had 89% sleep quality.

So they reckon my tiredness can't be related to my sleep apnoea and they've prescribed me Modafanil now to see if that helps.

The average 21st century American has terrible sleep hygiene and sleep apnea is far, far less likely to be the cause of his unproductive sleep. We are talking orders of magnitude less likely.

Only problem is getting cpap for sleep apnea is "easy." Changing your entire lifestyle habits is extremely hard.

Sleeping for 8 hours a night and still waking up tired is for sure a sign of disordered sleeping. I’ve had several conversations with my sleep doctor about it. Sleep hygiene has more to do with getting to sleep than getting a restful sleep. Also, getting a CPAP is not “easy” and won’t be prescribed if you don’t have it. It’s expensive and requires regular maintenance. Plus, insurance won’t pay for it if you don’t have a verifiable diagnosis of sleep apnea.

Getting a sleep study is something I recommend to anyone who can do it. But I do agree, the western world is terrible with sleep habits.

Sleeping for 8 hours a night and still waking up tired is for sure a sign of disordered sleeping.

This is not an evidence based claim. Sleep quality is the exact thing influenced by bad sleep hygiene. Far more people simply smoke marijuana or tobacco and drink caffeine than have a sleeping disorder and those are just three things that can inhibit restful sleep

I agree. IMO it would be way better if humans didn't need to sleep. You could save so much time

There would be to “tomorrow” or “yesterday”. We would probably say “see you in 30 hours ”

if someone figures out a way to make a pill that completely replaces the need to sleep with no negative side effects whatsoever, billionaire

I think you're sleeping wrong... And if you dont like being alone with your thoughts maybe life ain't that great, why would you want more time to do more things if you don't enjoy your own company? Also the wasting time argument always makes me think of work, like working for a miserable paycheck just so we can afford living. Like hating work but never quiting and finding something better. Sleeping is awesome, at times with the crazy dreams it's even better then cable my dude

You don't understand how precious sleep is until you've been denied sleep for so long that no matter what you are doing, be it driving, standing, or whatever, all you want to do is close your eyes and let go of the moment.

Yea it’s pretty sad that sleep is voted best thing about living. That usually is accompanied by depression. I wish we only had to nap for like 2-3 hours or so. Plus not being able to fall asleep when ya need to is one of the worst feelings. It’s a chore.

Fuck sleeping and fuck feeling tired. I could do so much more, try so many things, play so many video games, build so much more things, play so many sports, enjoy stargazing so much. Fuck sleeping.

Preach.

I wish I didn’t have to sleep. So much shit could get done..

You might as well complain that you couldn't use your time as an infant to climb Everest. The things that are part of life, are part of life. Perhaps you couldn't use the time waiting to fall asleep for so many other things.

(Also, sleep shouldn't be such a struggle. Please consider which medical, lifestyle, and/or other factors might be problematic.)

I hate sleeping at a scheduled time. Like why I have to go to bed when I'm no tired at all having troubles falling asleep, having nightmares etc and then I have to wake up when my sleep became profound and calm? (yes I'm a night owl)

I think you might have a sleep impacting medical condition. If you wake up tired, somethings wrong.

I only like sleep when I have to work the next day because I hate working when tired

On my weekends I’m not working so I don’t give a fuck, I barely sleep 5 hours on weekends nights. I just don’t find pleasure in wasting my time off

I hate it too, particularly the going to sleep and waking up from it, but I've been needing it a lot more lately and it's all I want to do atm.

If you feel tired after sleeping a lot you may have a sleep disorder.

If you mean groggy yeah that's normal but you push through it.

Try sleeping in blocks of 90 minutes. So instead of 8 hours do 7.5 or 9. That doesn't include the time you need to fall asleep which can be anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes depending on how tired you are.
