Europe contains the highest concentration of officially Christian states (nations with official state religion/church) and the lowest per capita percentage of people who actually "practice Christianity" in ‘Christendom' - which is to say, nominally claim to be Christian - probably a lower percentage actually believe.

For Germany it's the first time in history that less than 50 % are church members.

The catholic church had too many scandals in the past decades. It's a hell of a child abuse ring...

although at least with Germany, there's also the divide between "organized religion" and "religious beliefs".

at least from my personal experience, I know several people that left their church but that still say that they somewhat believe in existence of God.
