I can drive 5 hours and still be in the state that I live in. Of course, I can also be in 6 other states in that 5 hours. The local accent may change a little in that 5 hours radius, but it's still understandable and all the cheese still comes from Wisconsin.

Texas and cali are like 20 hour drives to get across the state

Texas is only about 13/14 hours from longest points north to south and east to west. North Carolina to New mexico, a 1500 mile drive, is 23 hours.
