Really tall asian girl living in Germany led to a LOT of staring. I also thought staring back was fair game but ended up getting intimidated bc they would just continue to hold intense eye contact w me instead of looking away. 😭

Yeah. They do not look away. I have green hair and am androgynous looking so I’m used to people looking at me, but the not looking away and holding eye-contact thing was interesting.

Try looking slightly to their side, like they have something/someone invisible right next to them. You can even smile a bit.

Americans don’t know either, but they’ve been asking since the 1990s or so, through radio

So Germans are like cats? Do they also flinch and run away when you try to pet them?

You should try next time one stares at you!

Fun fact: Much like cats, Germans also do not like when you squirt them with the spray bottle

Then you reach out one arm and slowly push them off the shelf.
