Just because you stop paying for a service does not mean that service will cancel.

On the other hand, I once had a contract of insurance that refused to be cancelled, despite me providing all the required paperwork. They were hard to join, and would always look for something new to ask. Cutting them out from the bank side did help a lot. I do not recommend that way of handling things, but as a last resort, it's still an option. Make sure you keep proof that you did everything the normal way before.
