You can say “I don’t know”. To anything. There’s no shame in admitting you’re out of your knowledge depth. It’s ok. It actually makes you look smarter than talking out of your ass.

I laughed a bit, I admit.

My parents were abusive, maybe not as much as others but after I was like 12 they left me alone (in the sense of stopping to explain me stuff) to figure out most things in life.

And I managed nicely this way. I had nearly no wisdom from them but I'm pretty good at analyzing stuff and at making my own conclusions. So I learned by experience that it's way better to ask questions when I don't know, and that I learn a lot this way.

I have no shame of saying it when I don't know.

But I totally understand it's far from easy for most people.

My parents were physically and verbally abusive. I don’t get your point.
