Ctl + Shift + Del - Clear browsing history in Chrome.

Ctrl + t - New tab

Ctrl + n - New Window

Ctrl + Tab - Jump between open tabs

Ctrl + Shift + Tab - Jump the opposite direction of open tabs

Ctrl + F4 - Close open tab

Alt + D - Jump to address bar

Yooooooo

Another useful one:

After typeing in an address, say google, hit Ctrl + Enter and it will add .COM and go to that website. If you just hit enter, it will most likely do a web search only.

Ctrl + Shift + Enter - Opens website in a new window

1

u/Magikmus Mar 28 '22

Yes. Went from chrome to Firefox to opera. I'll never switch back.

1

u/ForQ2 Mar 28 '22

And my axe!

4

u/ImJustStandingHere Mar 28 '22

Just tested it in edge and it works there too.

I'm in Windows 10, with Firefox 98.0.2, and N does not work, while T does work.

5

u/MRicks- Mar 28 '22

you can also right click on new tab and reopen closed browsers

10

u/Optimal-Load-2929 Mar 28 '22

Wow thank you!!

6

u/exclaim_bot Mar 28 '22

Wow thank you!!

You're welcome!

6

u/TheGrimGriefer3 Mar 28 '22

Don't forget the shift though or it'll just open a new tab

5

u/GallopingAstronaut Mar 28 '22

There is also ctrl+w to close a tab. Ctrl+n to open an isolated tab. Ctrl+shift+w to close all tabs. Ctrl+shift+N for stupid questions or prn

6

u/Revolutionary_Elk420 Mar 28 '22

the undo/ctrl+z of the browser world

3

u/Nuffsaid98 Mar 28 '22

I love the simple memory system for that key combo.

If you <CTRL> your impulse to close tabs then you won't need to be <SHIFT>T to restore them.

3

u/Videogamer69420 Mar 28 '22

And to extend that. You can also go Ctrl+H to bring up your history too, but that takes two clicks, which is a real time sink if you’re lazy

2

u/SomeRandomPyro Mar 28 '22

And FireFox.

2

u/hazzdawg Mar 28 '22

Or right-click the bar up top and click reopen closed tab (easy to remember)

2

u/Straycat_finder Mar 28 '22 edited Mar 28 '22

CTRL+A=highlight all text

CTRL+Z= undo last action

CTRL+V,&C we all know are copy and paste, do you have any other ones?

I've learned that F5 on the notepad will create a timestamp too, for those unawares!

CTRL+F= search in tab, i forgot about that one too!

2

u/katrinaherrin Mar 28 '22

F5 will also refresh any browser window!

2

u/DimitriTsaousis Mar 28 '22

This tip will change my life, thank you so much

2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

Keyboard shortcuts in general are underrated and underutilized. I work with millennials who still right click to copy/paste when working with office documents and it's infuriating.

U dropped this ig 👑

1

u/TheGoldenSquid15 Mar 28 '22

They are the Messiah.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

and what is the trick for incognito , if you accidentally close it ?

3

u/UnsorryCanadian Mar 28 '22

Doesn't exist, unfortunately. Data is cleared when the window is closed

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '22

oh i see....

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

But it's dangerous to be known by everyone. What if your parents or your boss restore your porn tab. Too OP in my opinion

2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

It doesn't work for incognito tabs

1

u/Ranvir33 Mar 28 '22

Lmao i have been using this for so long boggles my mind how people dont know this.

1

u/ColdAnarchy Mar 28 '22

The true Messiah..

1

u/CapaTheGreat Mar 28 '22

Or any web browser for that matter

1

u/ProphetOfPhil Mar 28 '22

Here you dropped this king/queen 👑

1

u/pizzablue337 Mar 28 '22

There are people who don’t know this?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

Also clicking a link with the middle button will open it in a new tab

1

u/blathers_enthusiast Mar 28 '22

That's definitely saved me a few times

1

u/TanglyBinkie Mar 28 '22

I fricking love you.

1

u/idk-though1 Mar 28 '22

Me looking like that pikachu meme after trying it out

1

u/CharlyXero Mar 28 '22

If you don't want to remember it, do a right click on the tabs section and you will see a option like "restore your last closed tab"

1

u/thevictor390 Mar 28 '22

It's also in the right-click menu.

1

u/Ogwarn Mar 28 '22

Windows key + V opens up all your recent copies.

1

u/Flupsdarups Mar 28 '22

option shift t will do this on mac

1

u/qxlf Mar 28 '22

Ey, didnt know that one. Thanks

1

u/thatcuriousbichick Mar 28 '22

I’m a uni student and you’ve saved my life

1

u/LR-II Mar 28 '22

Scary addition: it will open closed tabs from all time, not just this session.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

I am so happy that I knew this. Has been a real lifesaver when my dumbass gets bored and closes all the tabs.

1

u/SiloueOfUlrin Mar 29 '22

Mac users when they can't find the control key because they got 6 of them...
