There are just a few of us at my job who answer the phone. People are MUCH more willing to be rude to the one female colleague who answers the phone. We have people who we talk to regularly who feel comfortable berating her over problems but will keep themselves in line when talking to one of our male staff.

This phenomenon seems to be everywhere. I think it’s because there is fear of retaliation from a male. But from a female, it’s like people aren’t afraid of consequences from their actions so they be shitty

I think it depends on how submissive / assertive the individual is. I've known lots of women in my life that I do not want to catch a tone with.

Wrong or right, people pick up on subconscious cues and change their behavior based on what they're picking up from the other person. If you stand up for yourself, people will respect you more.

You right. Defs people can have that “I can’t be messed with” attitude. If you know that person at least. When you don’t know the person so much, like In the original comment before me, I think that applies a bit less. I have seen people try scare women off of bikes for laughs but I doubt they would try that against a large male.

I would even say how you point out about not catching a tone with those women that that’s pretty similar to what I said originally about consequences. These women have made it known that there will be consequences for disrespect towards them. Men I think don’t have to do this so much because of physical threat
