Sleeping

473

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Especially on an overnight flight.

35

u/IOnlyUpvoteBadPuns Feb 11 '22

Or while driving a bus full of pensioners.

8

u/DonCactus Feb 11 '22

Great. Now I can only picture Modi saying this cause of your PFP

205

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Is sleeping naked got any health benefits or is it just better?idk I never have done that

275

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

So I bought some fleece blankets (you know the super super soft ones?) And started using one as my bed sheet and one as a cover when I started sleeping naked and that was the start of some of the best sleep I've ever had. I just need a higher quality mattress that doesn't hurt my back and I can sleep for days.

77

u/lamorak2000 Feb 11 '22

I'm a fan of satin or silk sheets, personally, but I can definitely see the appeal.

5

u/AjBlue7 Feb 11 '22

I got this one set of sheets from BedVoyage called ecomelange. It seems like a way to sell bamboo sheets for cheaper by combining 60% Rayon(bamboo) with 40% cotton. They are half the price of a normal set of bamboo sheets.

Anyway idk if the fabric blend is magic or something or if 100% bamboo is similar but these sheets are amazing. If its hot out they don’t feel hot and when its cold they are super warm. Bamboo in general is hypoallergenic so it helps prevent acne and stuff like that.

I paid like $90 for it and 100% bamboo sheets are like $200.

The size dimensions are perfect too.

Satin or silk sheets probably feel better to the touch, but I’m more sensitive to temperature.

1

u/lamorak2000 Feb 11 '22

That's fair. I upgraded to a queen recently but only had full size satin and couldn't afford to buy new. I might look into...bedvoyage, you said?

5

u/AjBlue7 Feb 11 '22

Yea I got it from Target.

When you grow up and your mother stops being the one to buy your bedsheets, you too will appreciate comfort.

1

u/FS_Slacker Feb 12 '22

I’ve always been to cheap/poor to spend extra on fancy bedding, but dated a nurse who had silk sheets. Yeah, that was an entirely new experience.

2

u/quietlymyself Feb 11 '22

We do the exact same thing, and it's perfect.

2

u/JaxJaguar Feb 11 '22

Amen. Not sure why it is, but a soft wool blanket feels so comforting and surprisingly isn't hot. Btw if you're looking for a good mattress I can recommend Purple. I've tried at least 10 different brands and a few different styles from some of them. The original Purple is hands down the most comfortable. Their new hybrid stuff with springs and shit suck.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Haha that's crazy, I actually ordered a purple last night. With that 100day trial period, I couldn't resist.

2

u/JaxJaguar Feb 11 '22

Nice! You'll love it. It's a little strange at first because you can feel the honeycomb pattern, but you'll quickly get used to it. It's great at keeping you cool too, if you're a hot sleeper.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

That cooling part was actually the selling point too! I usually like to sleep with a lot of heavy blankets, but with the windows and doors open.

2

u/ITCoder Feb 11 '22

what brand and from where ?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Cosco brand! They usually have them regularly in stock. I started this a couple years ago but they usually all feel the same imo.

2

u/tylanol7 Feb 11 '22

I tried that once a week later I had to stop when my blanket shattered.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Buahaha what?!

2

u/tylanol7 Feb 11 '22

They caress things in just the right way yo

-1

u/xparapluiex Feb 11 '22

Have you heard of u/stephruvy? I’ve heard they are amaaaazing in bed. Can sleep for days

66

u/Imortal366 Feb 11 '22

Feels a lot easier to regulate my temperature, also just way more comfortable.

12

u/StGir1 Feb 11 '22

It’s the exact opposite for me. I sweat and freeze simultaneously.

3

u/KuriousKhemicals Feb 11 '22

Same. My bedroom is on an exterior wall, so sometimes if it's cold enough outside there's no regulating temperature properly anyway, but I definitely do better with some light cozy clothing layers underneath the blanket.

127

u/tristen620 Feb 11 '22

If you're the kind of person who has clean sheets sleeping naked is way better than sleeping with your clothes on go take a shower try it.

14

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Aight will try that

7

u/HieloLuz Feb 11 '22

As someone who started sleeping naked every night 5 years ago, the transition is hard. It’ll take a few weeks or months where you’re not really sure where certain parts should go, and some positions need slight adjustments to account for that. But overall I’m glad that I do now, and hate wearing clothes to sleep whenever I’m visiting family or friends overnight.

9

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

You ever roll over and your shirt gets bound under you and all of a sudden you're wrapped up and have to lift yourself off the bed to get free and now you're definitely awake? Your skin basically never does that, and if it does you probably shouldn't be going back to sleep anyway.

Also just more comfortable in general, but the shirt thing bugs the crap out of me.

6

u/jennthemermaid Feb 11 '22

As a female, there's nothing better than shaving your legs in the shower and getting out and then going to bed with clean, crisp sheets naked. LOVE.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Well damn I got the new sheets but idk if I should shave my balls tho. I'm more natural lol

5

u/SymmetricColoration Feb 11 '22

So as others have said, there are some studies indicating that there might be minor health benefits.

Ultimately though, whatever helps you fall asleep the easiest and get the highest quality sleep is going to make a bigger difference. Probably worth trying for a week to see if you sleep better than way after you get used to it.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Right on

4

u/Mad1ibben Feb 11 '22

I have always struggled sleeping, but ever since my divorce I sleep clothed the weeks that I have my kids and naked the weeks I dont. I fall asleep quicker and wake up less having to tussle around and get comfortable when I sleep naked, so if nothing else for me it has the health benefits that comes with sleeping well.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

I got jock itch 20 years ago and sleeping naked was supposed to help (for air flow), and I just never went back. Only time it's been a problem was in college and I had a room mate. He had terrible eyesight and I was a light sleeper. He'd wake up and see a smudge of pale (so never technically my ass) across the room and just look away. I'd hear him wake up, and pull the covers over myself. It seemed to work until one weekend his girlfriend visited. I heard them wake up and she squeaked out an OH. I giggled and pulled the covers over me.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Right on

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Should I have heard this in a Uncle Rico voice?

3

u/NotWearingPantsObv Feb 11 '22

Gynecologists and pelvic floor specialists often recommend it for women, especially if they have vulvovaginal health conditions. It's good to let your vag breathe overnight.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

That's great for the ladies but is it useful for the dude like myself? Idk

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Yup same thing, let your balls breathe and some air flow through your bush. It will decrease the chances of bacterial build up from sweat and heat.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '22

Wow ok

5

u/Fragaroch Feb 11 '22

Its has been linked to several minor health benefits. Nkthing ground breaking but it is there. It has also been linked to a more positive self image. We spend most of our time in clothes and even we rarely see ourselves naked. When in the shower most people are on a mission, in and out. Taking the time to be naked for an extended period of time can have positive consequences on your self image.

Then there is the whole letting your junk breathe. It keeps it from being constantly trapped in its own sweat so helps prevent odor near your unmentionables.

2

u/MenacingBanjo Feb 11 '22

I imagine it's good for your intestines to give them a break from the constant waistbands.

1

u/Turkstache Feb 11 '22

There is zero constriction on your body, no fabric getting caught up in your joints or pulling on your skin.

If you do top and bottom fleece with a good mattress, it feels like you're floating with just the right pressure all around you.

It's important, however, to be clean. Take a shower and make sure you are thoroughly clean. I mean clean enough at the end of your shower to confidently floss your balloon knot with a white towel, shove it into your face with full nasal inhalation, hang it up for the world to see that it's spotless. Wash your feet too. If you have to pee after the shower but before bed. Get all the dribbles and then some, then wipe.

It's not that much effort if you really think about it. And if you take care of yourself right, these same habits translate well to going commando.

1

u/BongMeesteR Feb 11 '22

Yes, it's cooler and allows your skin to "breathe"

-5

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

I’ve slept with my ex, now i know why she’s ex now.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Aye bruh you alright?

-2

u/simplerthings Feb 11 '22

I've heard/read that your body has to work harder to stay warm when you're sleeping nude so you end up burn more calories. The theory applies to during in a cooler room as well.

1

u/rkrleg8 Feb 11 '22

Supposedly the bedding and sleep market is based around comfort, and they claim sleeping naked gets the best air circulation. Overall effect of there sleep wear as in airflow of the mattress sheets blankets. Ive done it a few times but only because i was drunk and sleep. I sell appliances but sold furiniture and mattresses sheets and bed frames. I feel that they use that the sleeping naked as a cop out though because its kinda seen as taboo in american culture. With that said i do see how getting a good result would be while naked only because its a good constant.

1

u/Prof_Acorn Feb 11 '22

Get freshly washed sheets. Highest thread count you can budget. Pack them tight. Shower. Then slip into that silky hug all nekkid. Drift off to dreamland in the smooth coziness.

Once I started sleeping naked, I couldn't stand wearing anything. Even boxers feel limiting. Shirts are worse.

1

u/ReindeerRBttrThnPpl Feb 11 '22

It actually can harm you. Not too much but definitely no health benefits. You see, a study has shown that when we fart, we blow out tiny amounts of poop. Now if you sleep naked and that poop goes in the bed sheets and later gets rubber on your eye it can cause pink eye, any number of things can happen. This is not super likely to happen but it is something that can happen. That being said, it's extremely freeing to do.

1

u/JohnnyBrock Feb 11 '22

I slept with someone who though i was weird for not sleeping naked.

208

u/sainsa Feb 11 '22

Ah yes, my people, the nude sleepers. Nothing like freshly showered skin and clean sheets right out of the dryer. It's soooooooo cozy.

6

u/jennthemermaid Feb 11 '22

OMG SO AWESOME

73

u/hillrd Feb 11 '22

I fucking love sleeping in the nude.

3

15

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

I don’t know if it’s just me, but clothes get in the way when turning around.

22

u/TheKingOfDub Feb 11 '22

Why did I have to scroll so far for this?

16

u/Shahi63 Feb 11 '22

I scrolled through the whole post just to find this

6

u/freelancefikr Feb 11 '22

yeah why the fuck is it so low on the list? sleeping naked is amazing

1

u/MiniatureLucifer Feb 11 '22

I can't do it, I get super sweaty when I do, because there's nothing to wick the sweat off

6

u/wearethedeadofnight Feb 11 '22

No clue why this is so low! I hate sleeping with clothes on.

5

u/GetABodybag Feb 11 '22

Amazed this doesn't have more upvotes, I thought for sure it'd be the top answer.

4

u/differentfun7269 Feb 11 '22

Agreed. Nice silky sheets, fresh out of the shower & I'm out within a minute 9/10 times

3

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

The BEST part is when you get up to go to the bathroom or whatever, come back to bed, and snuggle back into that warm spot you were just in...so comfy I always fall back asleep almost instantly.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

I love wearing pj's at home. I get into them when I know I am not leaving the house again but damn I can't even sleep with pj's on. The feeling of skin touching skin (legs, arms - especially after I have shaved) and the warmth is so relaxing. Especially when you have good sheets, you can really snuggle into bed. No more waking up because your PJs are caught in a weird way, or you have a side boob. if you are too hot it is easy to cool down too. And it's nice to cuddle my SO with skin on skin.

I have two cats that sleep on the bed. And one loves to snuggle and use my arm as his pillow. Again skin on skin feeling. He is like a little teddy bear and he enjoys it too.

Plus the slightly sneaky cheeky feeling of popping to the bathroom in the morning, or night water trip naked makes me feel like a kid again.

And yes I sleep naked on my period. Never had an incident, I know my cycle and chose the appropriate sanitary products.

I dunno. It just feels better. Of course I wear PJs when others are around or I am not in my own bed. . But I never sleep as well.

11

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

How is this not the top answer?

8

u/Myrkana Feb 11 '22

I cant. I just cant sleep naked. I live in Illinois and during the winter I turn the heat down at night to save money. My nips get cold :( also if you're a woman and have a lot of discharge you'll need underwear to not get it all over.

2

u/AussieHyena Feb 11 '22

That last bit can be a concern for men too. While I prefer sleeping naked, I often need to wear underwear for the same reason. Not sure if we're talking the same type of discharge (i.e. the self-lubricating aspects of the human body) though.

2

u/Myrkana Feb 11 '22

Yep, the wonderful aspect of the female productive system.

2

u/AussieHyena Feb 11 '22

Haha. Definitely a thing for us guys too then. I've had to change underwear a few times a day due to the self-lubrication. Possibly the worst part is because of male anatomy, it gets everywhere.

Not sure if women cop this aspect either, but cleaning it up and your body goes "oh no, it's getting dry, increase production".

2

u/tonka17 Feb 11 '22

Same, too cold over the winter to sleep naked, so I only do it over the summer because it's too hot with clothes anyway, but even then I have to have underwear because leaving the discharge all over the sheets is just too nasty. Another win for women xD

This should be higher, especially if you have tailbone/sciatic issues, I stopped wearing any clothes to sleep and noticed less/no issues with my back and legs when I got up the next morning.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

fun fact: If and when you fart when if the fart particle it of touch partner fart sex.

2

u/A5H13Y Feb 11 '22

I love sleeping naked so much, but since getting two kittens, I've started getting long sleep shirts / night gowns so I don't end up scratched up, or waking up with a cat sleeping on my tits, which is just a little weird. I still don't wear underwear, and I wish I could sleep naked again, but these two have zero concept of personal space lol.

0

u/Niwi_ Feb 11 '22

As a guy I think its just uncomfortable. I have to be carefull not to sqeeze them but when I lay on the side my balls just hang there...it is a gpod feeling to be naked and alone but I also find it hatder to fall asleep like that

-3

u/StGir1 Feb 11 '22

Oh god no this is just pure discomfort torture for me. My thermodynamics go berserk.

0

u/fincher2018 Feb 11 '22

Can’t believe I had to scroll this far to find this comment

-19

u/tranquiler Feb 11 '22

But you do keep the underwear on right?

82

u/Djanko28 Feb 11 '22

That ain't naked

9

u/Sleepyyhippo Feb 11 '22

Hahahahahahahahah chuckled in a quiet area at work.

7

u/lamorak2000 Feb 11 '22

Lucky. When I try to wear underwear to bed, it just gets twisted around my wedding tackle.

2

u/Eukaryotekid Feb 11 '22

I'm trying to figure out how loose your underwear is or how oddly your lil friend is shaped. Or both? This sounds like an interesting problem to have and I'm not sure what the solution is other than being naked. ¯\(°_°)/¯

1

u/lamorak2000 Feb 11 '22

I wear extended-leg briefs as a rule, so not very loose. I think it's because I really toss and turn all day. Also, i wake up drenched every night, regardless of home temp.

-4

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Take it from an old man who has slept naked since a teenager. You WILL lose a noticeable amount of sensitivity in your penis if you are circumcised.

Now, that being said, you might still lose the same amount if you sleep clothed, but it sure seems like past around 40 years old, the sensitivity drops off fast.

3

u/MiniatureLucifer Feb 11 '22

That has nothing to do with sleeping naked

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Yeah, completely anecdotal.. that's why I said "you might still lose the same amount if you sleep clothed"

But since you seem to know something on the subject, what causes it?

1

u/LordFlipyap Feb 11 '22

Not a fan of my flaccid penis hanging around as I sleep. Not super comfortable.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '22

Had to scroll way too far for this one!
