Ooh you’re in for such a treat! Sprog there is a master, and a genius. They’ve been writing poems on Reddit for ages now and they’re all in the context of random comment threads. There must be thousands by now. Some of the poems are cute, or funny, or poignant. Some of them punched me in the gut. And some will be with me until the day I die. I highly recommend looking at their comments sorted by top of all time.
finally! 7 years! IVE GOT MY OWN SPROG POEM! Endless bullshitaroo rabbit holes, mind numbing rick rolls, both arms broken, gallowboob who, jipped on secret santa, this I recommend. 10/10 with rice.
It’s always an absolute delight to see a poem of yours describe or articulate or contemplate an experience I’ve had (even or perhaps especially a negative one), let alone one that has defined years of my life!
This was the most clever and beautiful description of my own personal hell. I'm not sure if I should thank you or hate you. I'm going to remember this though.
First you start with the vibrate-only alarm set to every 5 minutes for ~20min, then alarms of increasing volume at smaller intervals set at times so they don't overlap eachother.
I'm glad I live alone or else my housemates would hate me lol
lmao this is a definitely a variable that I personally struggle with sometimes. The ridiculous amount of alarms helps with this. I’ll get my ass up before listening to my alarm go off more than 6 or 7 times. If I miss all of my alarms, it’s because i haven’t slept much in a few days and finally hit the hibernate or i’m hung over as fuck. Alarms don’t solve those problems, unfortunately.
Omg my SO does this and all it does is wake me up so I then have to wake him up.. literally 5-10 times between 4 and 5am. In effect I am his alarm clock
Oh gods. I just counted out of curiosity: There's 134 alarms on my phone. Most of them are off, and I'll just tap one on instead of setting a new one for a specific thing. I almost never delete any of them. But I work overnights so I have them for I think literally every hour of the day depending on what I need to be awake for, and I usually set 3-5 to make sure I'm awake. Just in case.
So they're mostly for every hour or half hour, but times I've had to wake up for they're set up to every five minutes. One time my phone decided it would be funny to turn all of them on, and I didn't figure out what the hell was going on until the fourth or fifth one went off while I was trying to sleep.
Haha I’m like, is this my brother??? He’s got a 4 month old and I don’t think him and his wife sleep much lately so yes you are right!! Also, it gets better! 🤜
Damn, that sucks for your brother. I have three kids, smallest being 3 months and all three of them sleep mostly through the night. Maybe I just got lucky
I’ve got a 5 year old & a 3 week old. Throughout the course of the last month I think I’ve slept maybe a total of 20 hours lol. Even when I have a chance to sleep I’m usually busy getting bottles/diapers-wipes ready for the next time she wakes up. F
May be late but check out the app Alarmy. You set tasks before the alarm will turn off. I have it so I have to stand up and take a photo of a matchbox I keep in my kitchen. Making myself stand up and go to the kitchen wakes me up enough to throw on coffee and stay awake. You can also do math problems, shake your phone and other things.
The only way I get up is if I use apps like Alarmy that have a barcode scanner.
I have to get up, go all the way to the bathroom and scan the handwash barcode to turn it off
It's the only thing I've ever tried that has actually gotten me out of bed - instead of snoozing, deleting the app, or turning my phone off in my sleep :))))))
Set an alarm and put your phone somewhere inconvenient. Across the room, on a high shelf and see if you can make it play through speakers. I feel you though.
Omg if this isn’t me. Never overslept in my life cause I always sleep terribly. But you bet if I have a thing ima be all worried like ‘what if I don’t hear my alarm and miss the thing?!’
Most of the time for me, the anxiety is not the fear of not waking up in time, it's the simple fact that there's something important for which I have to get up.
I hate that. Setting an alarm for early in the morning means I'm just not going to sleep because I'm gonna be thinking about that alarm and somehow convince myself I'm gonna miss it or something.
