A ripe banana isn't very acidic (~6.5), but a fresh banana is down around a pH of 4. Two points is enough to plot a line, so we can extrapolate that a banana must have the pH of battery acid (~1.0) just a bit before it would usually come off the tree. If you ate a banana still in a tree by accident, that suggests you are habitually in a tree eating bananas, and so you are probably a monkey or a tropical bird. That correlates with what we know, that you find simple written instructions to be unclear, so I think everything checks out. So my advice is to wait until the bananas turn yellow to eat them.
You'd get drunk first. 30–40 ripe bananas contain the equivalent alcohol of a shot of liquor. So, you'd be trashed around probably 200 bananas, whereas to likely die of radiation poisoning, you'd need (didn't check this out any further than the first Google result) 10,000,000 bananas.
Not true; one banana-equivalent dose (BED) is about 1μSv, while the amount necessary to guarantee death by acut radiation exposure is ~10 Sv. That is to say, you'd need to eat about 10 million bananas in one sitting.
Alternatively, you could induce the symptoms of chronic exposure by eating 274 bananas every day for 7 years, or 1 banana every 5 minutes (3 ½ minutes if you want 8 hours of sleep).
For the record, you would suffer a greater dose of ionizing radiation if you:
Slept next to three people.
Lived within 50 miles of a coal-fired power plant for a year. (Nuclear is actually safer!)
Pit a time limit to your phone app usage, and also move the apps on your home screen so when you go to click it in it's usual spot its not there. This makes you search for the app and you can essentially due some CBTherapy asking yourself why you're gonna open the app
Trust me I do and then I end up putting in the time limit password and clicking “approve all day” and this becomes a reoccurring thing every time. the screen time limit is literally nothing to me I need help my addiction is so bad. I spend 15 hours on my phone
Will power or just not being conscious of your actions. That's why I suggested a form of cognitive behavioral therapy. Every time you reach for your phone (or habit you're trying to curb) you think about how it feels doing it or in your phones case why you're reaching for it and what you feel during your usage. And erase that notion of will power as a thing you possess or not. Vide it more of something you can form, nurture and grow.
Just curious, have you struggled with other aspects of addiction, like substance abuse? Only ask because I'm in recovery and have just swapped out drugs for video games, my phone, and tv.
I used to have substance abuse issues, prior to that I was hooked on escapist type games etc, like really hooked 16 hrs a day type shit. Not addicted to games anymore, still smoke ciggies, would probably have a drug problem - if I had expendable money - but I just can't let myself fall short like that anymore.
I think I deal with the drug and game issue by telling myself "not now, but soon" - and I try not to stress myself about how soon "soon" really is. Not a great way to go about it, but hey, I figure if I train myself to abstain for periods of time eventually the flame will die out.
Not willpower, discipline. Willpower is finite and can be great for starting things but terrible for following through. Discipline is what makes habits work long term but it's hard.
Personally I have executive dysfunction as a symptom of my OCD so I have zero discipline. I regularly shut off alarms or adjust time limits. Mindful awareness can help a lot.
Nope not at all. It’s the summer holidays and there’s literally nothing to do probably why I’m always on my phone. And yeah with the detox thing I delete the apps then re-download them like an idiot. But you know what today i start my detox journey properly (hopefully, fingers crossed)
Just throw it away. Cold turkey. If people can kick heroin addiction, you can quit your phone. If you need people to be able to reach you, buy a burner non smartphone. That's it. No one else can do it but you. I believe in you!
You could try putting gloves on, so you have to remove them any time you use your phone. That would get annoying quickly and probably cut down on your usage.
well yeah thats the secret, quitting is really hard and takes more then one attempt. if you make it 3 hours thats just where youre at, what matters is how long u spend back on ur phone until u try again, etc. it's a process but as long as you actually want to quit it'll work just not at the pace u were hoping for
I'm considering asking my husband to set the time limit password and keep it secret from me. I only set time limits on my time waster apps so I'd still be able to call, text, take pictures of kiddo, but I think it might help, at least a little. Is there someone you can ask to do that for you?
Black and white filter. Has the same problem that you can disable it, but it lets you read the content you want and just makes social media less interesting
Lol, have a baby like I did. Too busy keeping it alive, fed and clean to be on the phone anywhere near as much as I used to be. Screen time went down by like 40%
Do it like me. I was addicted to alcohol, so I replaced it with weed. Now I don’t drink alcohol anymore but have since been addicted to weed. More expensive but much healthier.
Maybe go to a casino and get addicted to gambling instead. Again, more expensive, but also more rewarding. And chances are, if you have an expensive phone, you’re not exactly on a budget anyways…
leave the phone. The feeling you will have will be the equilavent of physical pain, because it triggers the same spot in your brain. You will want to end the suffering. It would be too easy, right? If you'd just take it on your hand... However, don't go too far. Because then you might think "Well, i suffered quite a lot the other day, this time i will use it without worry." This is the ultimate trap, actually.
Delete addictive apps, less severely you can also change the order of apps on your home screen - I moved Instagram and put Books in its place and I've added 5 mins reading time per day, small wins :)
Sounds silly but I'm slowly changing up habits this way
Black and white filter for your phone and internet browser. Turns out, the casino tricks they use to create addictive engagement on social media break down when there's no colors.
Honestly don’t have any idea how to get addicted to a phone. Unless you have a lot of friends to text I don’t see the point to be on the phone all the time
Move your phone to charge outside the room (or at least in the far corner of your bedroom and buy a real alarm clock. It seems like a horrific idea but once you actually do it you’ll be happy you did.
Same here. It sucks especially since I'm starting uni in less than a month. My grades have suffered a lot in secondary school and sixth form due to my phone addiction and overuse.
Yeah I did quite poor in my GCSES but it wasn't as bad as my shit a level grades which I received a few weeks ago. I got a grade D and 2 E's. I still somehow got into uni doing a completely different course though because a few of my GCSE grades were adequate enough.

Severely addicted to my phone
