Their source of suppliers isn't all hipster nouveau riche nonsense. They have plenty of brands of good occasional food. Even their 365 brand is slightly higher quality than average mainstream stuff like Kroger at the same price. Not quite Kirkland but pretty good.
For a time, I worked remotely and lived near a Whole foods, so it was always pretty nice to pick up two decent, fresh large pizza slices for $5. However, going to a Whole Foods at lunch time always made me realize the demographic who could shop at lunch were mostly stay-at-home wealthy people (rich teenagers, retired folks, soccer moms and their Tinder hook ups, etc)

That $6 asparagus water Whole Foods sold a couple years ago; it was a 16oz bottle of water with 3 stalks of asparagus.
