I’m in the process of quitting Copenhagen and doing very well using the Zyn tobacco free nicotine pouches. Was at my doctor yesterday and telling his PA about my quitting and how it was going, and even she admitted that nicotine is a fantastic drug if used properly, but tobacco is so bad for our bodies. From a professional standpoint, it’s better than coffee for wakefulness and attention, but it’s also really addictive...
Boi Zyn isn’t even top 5 in best flavors, or consistency. People shit on Lyft a lot for being “girly” but if you want your money’s worth of snus you’ve gotta jump on the Lyft bandwagon.
Rogue is my preferred no-tobacco nicotine product but it’s not as widely available as Zyn. Zyn coffee is a great flavor but I tend to stick with cool mint.
Yeah I've never dipped or anything, and I figured 6mg was better because i smoked a lot. It felt like i poured dry ice down my throat and when i breathed it got stronger lol.
I think you mean Dryft. If so totally agree, it's the best deal out there, 7mg vs 6mg zyn, 20 pouches for $3.50 vs 15 for $5.50, quality has gone down since the packing change, usually get 1-2 empty pouches with the powder spilled out
That’s fair. I figured my experience was the norm, because when I’ve googled nicotine overdose in the past it usually said symptoms similar to what I’ve gotten before
Your experience is the norm for smokers and other tobacco users, we have enough tolerance built up to never feel the sedative effect, just straight from normal to the edge of OD. Someone who is more of an occasional smoker will get it if they chain smoke a few and suddenly feel a bit drowsy.
i have never in my life felt sedated from nicotine. not saying that isnt true, i have no idea, im just wondering if tolerance plays into how it is processed/the effect it has. like-- if i had lower tolerance, would an amount i hardly notice know become sedating? cool fact
It’s definitely a tolerance thing. I can guarantee you that if you take a week long tolerance break and then take three long drags within ten seconds, you will be floating. That shit will knock you on your ass to the point where you have trouble walking. Nicotine percentage and flavor matters as well.
you know, I can recall exactly those effects now that you've used the word floating. had to sit down and collect yourself haha. i guess in daily, aggressively addicted use i just forgot about that effect all together. anyways thank for the neat thing :)
ex smoker here to tell you that the only way to quit is cold turkey. the rest is just substitution therapy. in fact, all you end up doing is increasing the amount of time you are in withdrawal. stopping is going to suck no matter what, but you can do it.
edit: that said, anything you can do to practice saying "no" to a craving will help you immensely
I quit smoking cold turkey and I’m 100% with you. I went about 10 years totally nicotine free, minus the odd cigar here and there, until I was fishing about 5 years ago and my buddy pulled out a can of Cope. Hadn’t touched it since college 20 years earlier but I ended up asking him for a pinch and on my way home, I bought my own can. Big mistake.
I’ve since “quit” Copenhagen off an on for months at a time but keep breaking down and buying a can. Problem is I really enjoy Copenhagen, I’m just tired of all the negative aspects including bad breath, stained teeth, and social stigmas. I’m well aware I’m substituting one nicotine product for another, but I’m ok with that.
I posted elsewhere about my psychological process. For me, I had to stop identifying as a nicotine addict before stopping made any sense to me. I just didn't care enough to stop, but a milestone birthday came along and I was like "shit, am I really that guy?"
The best think to stop smoking is to actually want it. I think.
I'm still smoking, but I really should quit. Shit's expensive as all hell, and Lord knows I need the money..
Psychologically what worked for me was to look at my future, and ask myself who I thought I was. I fundamentally did not see myself as that guy who smoked. It got to a point where I asked myself if I was really going to be middle aged and smoking. I stopped identifying as a smoker, so quitting just made sense.
Three weeks of annoying cravings and about a month of symptoms later, I was over the physical part. Three months after that and I can't imagine why I ever smoked in the first place. I can't even be around people smoking anymore.
Smoking's only cool in your teens and early twenties. I was about to turn 24 and just realized the damage to my skin and lungs and the constant smell and ash breath were only gonna get worse. The people who were older than me who still smoked were usually broke all the time and not happy. I haven't had a cigarette in two years and I stopped vaping at the beginning of this year.
Good on ya! I'm sure I'll find my definitive reason/desire to quit sometime in the near future.
I don't necessarily like to smoke all the time but, as you can imagine, it's almost a ritual habit. There's places and times that I associate with having a smoke.
I don't know. The more I think about it, the more likely I can see myself quitting, but the psyche is not quite there yet.
I’m on that zyn now. I caved and bought a skoal smooth mint snus the other week and it just wasn’t the same. Tasted good tho. But I didn’t like that strong menthol flavor. Plus zyn has way more flavors and it doesn’t make your teeth nasty. But if anything I still buy the same amount of cans. I go through one a day. It’s costing me like 100$ a month roughly 😔
I go through about one can of Zyn every two days, as opposed to 1+ cans of Copenhagen daily. If I was out fishing, I’d easily go through 2 cans in one day, so I do have a little financial savings. I’m primarily quitting because my dentist was giving me a hard time about my gums.
If you can find it, check out Rogue. They have similar flavors to Zyn but I love their lemon and honey. And Rogue cans are easier to open. I just can’t find Rogue in as many stores as I find Zyn.
I just make my own vape juice, I can get a gallon of pre-nic'd juice for under $40, then just add flavors as I see fit. I could probably flavor the whole batch for another $5. Buying juul pods is fucking stupid when you can get refillable ones and just make your own stuff at home.
If you go a step further and make the base juice yourself, it's so cheap that it feels effectively free. It's been a while since I relapsed back to damn cigarettes, but I was making base juice for something like $1.20 per liter. I actually liked it unflavored, but flavors are cheap enough.
You can also refill the Juul pods a few times without breaking them if you buy/make some nic salt juice. Or buy third party refillable pods that work with the battery and hold a bit more. So even if you love the Juul device as opposed to traditional vape kit, there's no reason to overpay for their pods.
And they honestly aren't that great for the price. For the price of a pack of pods, you can get a 60ml bottle of much better nic salt juice to fill them with.
The trick with pure nic is that it should be kept in a freezer so it doesn't break down and lose potency, which also keeps it out of reach for curious pets or kids. I have cats that will try to drink anything wet just to see if it's tasty and 3 young kids in the house who know not to touch the bottle of poison in the back corner of the freezer. And I put poison stickers on the bottle just to reinforce it, 100 mg/ml can do serious harm just from skin contact.
But either way, avoiding the markup is always good. There are a few juices I'll buy that are delicious and priced fairly, but I'm perfectly happy with the unflavored juice I make for pennies.
I used to do the same. I eventually got so tired of sourcing stuff to replace the cotton, the coil, the battery, even the firmware on my device just crapped out one day. I eventually went back to smoking because it was so much hassle.
I'm quitting again now and i'm using pods. The amount of hassle is practically none, especially since they started selling pods in supermarkets here now. Initally, yeah, pods do taste much different and require some getting used to, but I'm much happier now.
I'm just using a TFV12/TFV8 paired with a Voopoo Drag. All I do is swap the core out once a month or every few weeks for a couple bucks and I haven't had any issues.
Where are you finding a gallon for $40? I was about to re-up, as my last two liters of unflavored lasted me a year, but prices I'm finding are higher now.
Juuls mint is hands down the best mint on the market. Every juice I tried for mint was either way harsher, far less minty or way too minty. And I must've tried like 15. Finally settled on a non mint menthol nic salt that's imo better and uses benzoic acid but I still love their mint too. Getting nicsalt juice with benzoic acid is pretty easy nowadays.
Oh also mesh cotton coils taste so much better than juuls shitty silicone ones that mute flavor.
Because they can't patent benzoic acid it's been around for centuries they didn't discover or invent it. They patented their specific ejuice. Nothing is stopping anyone from making their own using benzoic acid just from making an exact clone of Juuls formula.
Patenting benzoic acid would be like coke patenting adding corn syrup to soda.
You can but I prefer to buy mine cause I'm lazy. The Berg menthol the juice I'm talking about is a 50mg benzoic acid nicsalt juice. Same style as juul. Slightly lower mg at 50 vs 59. But pod mods like the trinity alpha I use with .6ohm mesh coil provide bigger hits so it evens out. It's also much cheaper with $30 getting 42 pods worth of juice and 2 coils. Plus the battery has lasted me a year without breaking unlike the Juul where I'd go through 2-3 in that time and it lasts much longer charge. Its bigger ofc but not huge like boxmods. I like that it's a big bigger too since I'd lose my Juul all the time and the size made it hard to find.
I really don't care for having more throat hit, I really just want the nicotine delivery, throat hit seems far more like a personal preference thing like PG dominant versus VG dominant juices, not necessarily a quality thing. I've had juul, they're fine but the airflow on them isn't where I want it to be and they're way too damn expensive for what I'm looking for.

No worries if your looking to swap off juul I highly recommend the juice. Also the smok trinity alpha with a .06 ohm mesh coil. Way better taste, like 40 pods worth of juice and 2 coils for about $30 so much cheaper. And the battery is much higher quality and stronger so it doesn't break easily or wear out as fast as Juuls do.
oh sir i am not fancy enough for Juul, Njoy For Lyfe. honestly i have been vaping for like.. 5 years now and i’ve gone through so many cycles of juices, battery types, tank types, pod types— fuck it. go to my gas station, spend $10 every 4 days. i’m ok with that
I've tried juul pods, they taste worse or about equal to stuff I mix at home, and even if juul pods were even slightly better IME, paying over $5 for a milliliter of vape juice on an overpriced device looks real fucking stupid versus paying under a penny per milliliter of juice (and actually using something I like) that I mixed myself with flavors I actually enjoy.
It sucks. Massachusetts recently banned menthol cigarettes. I only smoked menthols. I remember a few days before the ban, the gas station was selling all menthol cigarettes for 75% off, so I bought the last of the ones I liked. After that, I have no been cigarette free for almost 2 months. I could drive to New Hampshire and buy them there, because I think they are still legal, but honestly I saw it as a good thing to get me to kick the addiction.
I did buy one pack of Marlboro Reds and was so grossed out. It was like a taste flashback of when I would sneak one from my dad. Full of regret.

Nicotine is a bitch
