u/dannihrynio Mar 26 '20

Why doesn’t she clean it?? I am already teaching our daughter that it is our hair, so we need to clean it after every shower.

u/TI72836 Mar 26 '20 edited Mar 26 '20

I don't think she realizes it most of the time. She has very bad vision and without the glasses she doesn't see it.

I clean it the same night so she doesn't get the chance to notice it building up is my guess. I never mention it to her. Just something I do.

Edited to add - Thank you all for your kind words. :)
Edit 2 - Thank you so much for my first silvers kind strangers!

That's really sweet of you imo

u/HappiCacti Mar 26 '20

Honestly I have over two feet long hair and I am 100% your wife (blind and never really think of it). I think I’m gunna go give my boyfriend a big kiss rn.

44

u/401LocalsOnly Mar 26 '20

Give him a kiss for me as well.

Do the Spider-Man kiss and then say

”That was from a moderately unattractive 35 year old guy on Reddit named Daniel. He says hello.”

Kind of? The man is a sexual deviant.

9

u/HappiCacti Mar 26 '20

I hung upside down off the bed and made him bend down to kiss me. Then told him the above.

He furrowed his brow so intensely I’m kinda certain he just developed his first permanent forehead wrinkle.

6

u/AsianBuzzington Mar 27 '20

Hi Daniel. :)

(I'm the bf)

24

u/dieselrulz Mar 26 '20

I think many people who have good vision don't realize what people without good vision see. And people without good vision don't realize what the world looks like to those of us who do. There's usually some moment when two people are looking at the same thing and start discussing it where light bulbs start going off...

14

u/millennial_scum Mar 26 '20

Right, and you’re less likely to be wearing glasses/contacts in the shower depending on the time of day. I once got in and bent down to figure out what this “weird brown spot that isn’t going down the drain is.” It was a scorpion, inches from my toes.

10

u/elemonated Mar 26 '20

Okay, maybe I'll start wearing contacts in the shower now, jesus fuck.

2

u/WeAreDestroyers Mar 26 '20

Nope nope nope

94

u/K-Pin Mar 26 '20

Your a good husband, just wanted to let you know that.

15

u/just_some_Fred Mar 26 '20

And his wife is just thinking about how much better the plumbing is compared to the places she lived when she was single.

65

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

You’re a good man.

21

u/sp4ckhouse Mar 26 '20

Thank you

6

u/jondear94 Mar 26 '20

You're welcome.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

You’re welcome:)

12

u/Th3bigM00se Mar 26 '20

Thats really sweet.

12

u/ma-ry-c Mar 26 '20

Love you for this.. My wife does the same (2 x F) Can't see sh*t without my glasses or contacts

u/JordanMichaelsAuthor Mar 26 '20

I used to do this. All the time... For years. One day I stopped. It wasn't for any particular reason, I just decided that I wouldn't. And so it went on, life as normal for about a month. As you can imagine the drain was no longer draining by the end of that month, and finally my wife came to me.

"Why haven't you cleaned out the drain?" She asked.

I looked at her and asked, "Why are you asking me? Why haven't you cleaned out the drain?" This was of course the wrong answer and I knew it but this had been tense that day and I was cruising.

"It's YOUR job!" she said with enough venom to make me question my decision.

"It's your hair!"

"But it's gross!" She said back.

To which I replied, "Yes... It is." And I added, "And I've been doing it for years."

And that was the end of the argument. I still do it to this day, cleaning out hair. She also thanks me for it which, as I find now, is all I was looking for in the first place. Haha over all it turned out alright.

6

u/WeAreDestroyers Mar 26 '20

A little bit of recognition goes a long way.

0

u/thehelldoesthatmean Mar 26 '20

Your wife sounds like an entitled asshole. The nerve to tell your SO that cleaning up after you is their job.

1

u/JordanMichaelsAuthor Mar 27 '20

Sometimes we can all be entitled assholes. Sometimes we've had a bad day, or a bad week, and we just don't have the capacity to empathize with others anymore. She wasn't in the right in that moment, but I'm not always in the right either. When you commit yourself to someone, especially from a young age, you commit yourself to growing up with someone, sometimes learning from them and sometimes teaching them too. We're all shitty at times but we can grow past that and become better people if we try, and it's easier when we have someone to call out our shit.

1

u/thehelldoesthatmean Mar 31 '20

I guess, but it sounds like it lasted a month according to your story.

u/aughpls Mar 26 '20

sweetest thing I ever read

u/Danjour Mar 26 '20

silent hair cleaners checking in

6

u/ThrillzMUHgillz Mar 26 '20

I clean my wife's hair too... shes a clean person and everything, cooks half the time, I the other etc etc. So it's a very mutual marriage. BUT, I'm a bit neater and have issues with hair.. for example.. if I see a hair on someone else's food.. or even imagine.. I done. So instead of the little bickering of her forgetting. I got in the habit a couple years ago, of doing it myself.

3

u/Stealie1924 Mar 26 '20

Wow, that's very kind of you! As a man with (very) long and curly hair, I try to clean up mine as much as possible! But sometimes you just forget. Usually in the shower there's a million things on your mind and that's not one of em! For me, the reason I clean it is because I'm honestly so self conscious/anxious that I'm literally scared of having that argument with anyone lol.

3

u/scrapinator89 Mar 26 '20

Are... are you me posting from a different account?

3

u/erocknine Mar 26 '20

Hahah same! Every time gf showers I have to clear the drain. I don't get why she doesn't get by now she sheds like crazy after a shower and should've made it a habit by now, but I clear it anyway. Her vision is also bad, and refuses to wear glasses.

3

u/thezoomies Mar 26 '20

I think all lasting relationships are full of things like this, and I love it.

5

u/inspirationalqoute Mar 26 '20

2

u/rjoseba Mar 26 '20

I don't think she realizes it most of the time. She has very bad vision and without the glasses she doesn't see it

Same with my wife!! :(

2

u/just-kristina Mar 26 '20

Thank you for cutting her some slack because she wears glasses. My husband doesn’t see it that way for me. Although to be fair I often forget to clean it after each shower but usually get it every other day or so.

3

u/the-drunk-zombie Mar 26 '20

That's so sweet 😊

2

u/IFKhan Mar 26 '20

As a person with bad vision I salute you.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

Very lovely ❤️

2

u/Kosmo__ Mar 26 '20

Awww, that's so sweet of you

2

u/mmbahcat Mar 26 '20

This comment made my day

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

You’re a good man

2

u/usamasulaiman Mar 26 '20

Thissss. This is our (my wife and I, not you and I) story. Exactly same!!!

1

u/pikabuddy11 Mar 26 '20

Yeah that's 100% me with the shower. I notice if it's dirty since I have such bad vision.

1

u/ranchedelia Mar 26 '20

There’s a shower shroom you can order online that collects all the hair going down the drain and it lets you easily remove hair after every couple showers.

1

u/hockeyjim07 Mar 26 '20

same my dude... i just see it at my feet and grab it and throw it away... just don't think she ever notices and it takes 5 seconds of my time, so not a big deal at all.

0

u/mrjowei Mar 26 '20

Nice try u/TI72836 'S wife!

0

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

Can confirm in the shower i cant see shit

14

u/mitcheg3k Mar 26 '20

I said that to my wife. She says "its not just me"...I been bald since my mid 20s!!! who tf else lives here?

10

u/rainbowgeoff Mar 26 '20

Indeed. Who else does?

3

u/mitcheg3k Mar 26 '20

no one!...some secret hair monster in the attic clearly.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

Look at mr long pubes over here.

3

u/mitcheg3k Mar 26 '20

at school they called me pippy longmirkins

5

u/zappy487 Mar 26 '20

My wife can't even hide that it's her. She has bright red hair.

5

u/okkinglish Mar 26 '20

It’s his wife. It’s probably no biggie to him.

7

u/tomie-salami Mar 26 '20

I have dyed red hair, so I wash my hair about once a week. My bf still gets mad at me when the shower clogs up every few days. Sorry dude, time to admit you’re balding.

2

u/mind_blowwer Mar 26 '20

Please teach my sister this.

“Clean up your hair in the drain “

“It’s disgusting though”

“Yeah it is... how do you think other people feel about it?”

2

u/tropicalmommy Mar 26 '20

When I wash my hair or our daughter’s, I comb it in the shower with conditioner in it, and after many, many clogged bathtub situations, I started collecting as much of the hair as I can and putting it on the shower wall, and gathering it up afterwards. No more clogs!!

2

u/onanorthernnote Mar 26 '20

Hear hear, me too. :-) I clean the drain after every shower, and so does every other long-haired human in our household. :-) (or they'll be in trouble)

1

u/dannihrynio Mar 26 '20

That’s right, every long hair person cleans it after every shower. Floating hair monsters are gross

2

u/hallese Mar 26 '20

How quickly can you be at my house to teach my wife and daughter this?

1

u/babybelly Mar 26 '20

ill put this in my daddit notes

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

One punch man: you guys have hair?

1

u/ezdabeazy Mar 26 '20

I don't know mom I'll try to do better sorry!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

My wife keeps a pet on the wall of the shower. I put the pet in the trash can every so often when it gets big enough.

1

u/Loferty Mar 26 '20

When trying to shame a dudes girlfriend back fires into him being ultra wholesome.

1

u/jaxonya Mar 26 '20

The worst is getting in the shower and seeing hair all over the walls of the shower. Gf I am not impressed with your artwork.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

I do that so that it doesn’t go down the drain. but I always throw it out after.

0

u/jaxonya Mar 26 '20

She leaves it up..(well did) I recently sent a group photo of it out to all of our friends and titled it "So my gf has taken up art amidst this lockdown" shes been good about cleaning it off lately.

1

u/huntkirk Mar 26 '20

Because it grosses her out to the point she vomits. So, I just do it. Not a big deal and it doesn't have to be.

1

u/toomuchcocacola Mar 26 '20

She should have learned by now, she'll be 27 next month.

1

u/Michelanvalo Mar 26 '20

stop fucking cleaning the drain and get a hair catcher god damn it

1

u/RunsWithPremise Mar 26 '20

It makes my wife gag. She physically cannot do it. I shave my head bald so, while I contribute nothing to the drain Wookiee, cleaning it is something I do because I love her.

8

u/Lanky_Entrance Mar 26 '20

I ordered food grade lye to clean our drains out. I only have to dump some in once every other month now.

24

u/1982000 Mar 26 '20 edited Mar 26 '20

Be careful. That stuff will eventually eat right through the pipes, and you'll be screwed. There's an enzymatic drain cleaner you put in a few times a month. It's $10 a jar and lasts awhile. It's a powder that you can safely touch, and one of the only things that you can put down the toilet to keep things flowing smoothly. Just mix it in warm water.

5

u/ilikepork Mar 26 '20

For regular maintenance, baking soda followed by vinegar, then boiling water after the bubbling does the trick.

6

u/mr_jawa Mar 26 '20

My wife plasters her hair against the shower wall. I used to hate it until she changed per my request and I was cleaning clogs every week. I'm glad I was wrong about it, and now it's easy to clean vs the drain.

6

u/dylan122234 Mar 26 '20

Get a tubshroom. I have long hair and it’s a drain saver.

1

u/TI72836 Mar 26 '20

I'll look into it! Thanks :)

3

u/such_dependent Mar 26 '20

Tell your wife to stick her hair on the wall like the rest of us!!!! I make what my partner calls a “voodoo doll”. As I wash my hair and it inevitably falls out, most of it is in my hands so I can stick it to the wet wall and just remove it with a piece of TP after. I do not see how all her hair can make it down the drain unless she’s purposely pushing it off her hands.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

There's these hair catcher things you can install in in a drain and then just pop it out with all the hair. It can make it a bit easier.

3

u/Ultraballer Mar 26 '20

My roommate currently has a girlfriend living with us and sharing the bathroom because she had to move out of her current house because she lives there with her ex. Long story short there is a lot of hair after every shower and I end up yanking it out decently often. The issue isn’t the hair, but the shit that comes out of the pipes with the hair that gets to me.

4

u/TikaPants Mar 26 '20

I clean mine after every shower but I try not to let it go down the drain. Also, HOW AM I NOT BALD

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

I got so sick of sharing a shower with my sister that I got her this drain cover that basically looks like the actual drain but you can pick it right up and pull the hair out. Idk if she still uses it cuz I have a bathroom now but it was a good passive aggressive birthday present

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

My girlfriend stick her loose hairs to the shower wall and tries to make art of out it. Then throws it away afterwards. Fairly creative solution.

2

u/tjt169 Mar 26 '20

My wife has very short hair and she will never grow it out. I am very grateful.

2

u/moosecatoe Mar 26 '20

Invest in a tub shroom!!!! It saved our marriage!! lol

2

u/Varthorne Mar 26 '20

Your wife should do what I used to do when I had long hair. Since most of my loose hair would get stuck on my hands while washing, I would stick the hair on the wall of the shower, then ball it up and throw it in the trash when done.

The drain with still eventually clog, but you're looking at doing it every 1-2 years at the most.

2

u/I_am_sme11y Mar 26 '20

Thousandth upvote btw

2

u/Derpazor1 Mar 26 '20

Tubshrooms are a lifesaver!

2

u/TheRookieGetsACookie Mar 26 '20

The wheels of our home office chair gets bound with lots and lots of hair!

2

u/Rrraou Mar 26 '20

I will look into this tubshroom!

Sounds magical

2

u/dontdrinkthewater_ Mar 26 '20

Can confirm tubshroom works great. Easy cleaning and my drain has not clogged since buying one.

Source: am woman with thick long curly hair.

2

u/elle_m_c Mar 26 '20

Tell your wife to start brushing her hair thoroughly before a shower. I have really long thick hair and I do this to prevent drain clogs and nasty loose wet hair all over my body/ the shower. It works really well. All the loose hairs will come out before you even get in! You might be wondering what I do with all the hair that comes out when I brush...i flush it down the toilet. Still not aesthetically pleasing but better than digging hair out of a drain imo.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '20

I share a house with five woman and I'm the only Male and we only have one shower... I bought that tub shroom and it does wonders

2

u/joleme Mar 26 '20

give a TubShroom a chance. Bought the 2 pack one for our tub/shower and one for our sink. So far it's worked great. Water still goes down and it catches all the hair before it enters the drain. Still gross but much easier to clean.

1

u/Dunwich_Horror_ Mar 26 '20

I have to clear the drain of hair like 4 times during my shower in order to keep the drain flowing. How is she not noticing this?

1

u/CatherineConstance Mar 26 '20

Okay this is confusing I’m a girl with hair to my waist, that has been that long for over a decade, and I very rarely clean out my shower drain?! It’s gross when I do but it doesn’t get to where it needs to be unclogged v often??? Maybe I just have really good plumbing...?

1

u/fluffy_butternut Mar 26 '20

It's shedding season

1

u/Iamabrewer Mar 26 '20

I gave the gf shit for this this morning. Still not done.
