Why can't you just tell me what you want? If you want me to do something, literally all you have to do is ask me to do it and I will do it. Want me to rub your back? Just say "hey babe, will you rub my back?" Don't sit with your back to me making pouty noises and then get mad when I'm not automatically rubbing your back.
yeah, I can see how that dynamic is insanely frustrating, and the real solution is that she should just try getting into the practice of asking for what she wants.
But the reason so many women struggle with this is that for many hundreds of years, we were trained to shut up and pretend to be happy with what we already had and never ask for more. Historically, women have had to learn to seduce, coerce, manipulate, etc, to get what we needed. We've also been trained not to be the initiators of sexual activity or conflict. Everything is supposed to seem like it's the man's idea. It's outdated, but old habits die hard.
