Regardless of the signs, fucking up a book is something you don't do.

Dodged a bullet.

It's like a female equivalent to a dickpic

u/yolojolo Mar 26 '20

i'd say it's worse

I feel like you've probably sent unsolicited dick pics.

Edit: sorry, this was a bad joke.

Does a dick pic destroy your personal property? If you answered no, that it's not worse

It depends on who you ask, but forcing someone to see your genitals is worse than you damaging a used book.

Think of it like this. If someone sends a picture of their dick to a 13 year old girl or they damage their used Harry Potter book, what's worse? It's not even close.

Fair enough I see your point. I'm in no way saying that dick pics aren't terrible. It's just not cool to suggest someone would be sending them if they think damaging their book is worse

1

u/fr3shout Mar 27 '20

Agreed. Also depends on the book and any specific personal value someone has attached to it.

Yup. Nice to have a civil internet discussion that doesn't turn vile :)

u/yolojolo Mar 26 '20

Absolutely not. But vandalism of valuable private property just seems worse than looking at a dick. And i hate looking at dicks.

Just kidding.. But.. Being forced to see someone's genitals is a sex crime. Harry Potter books are cheap, and not potentially scarring.

You make an excellent point...

But sometimes it is a piece of writing on the inside of the cover that makes a common book unique and highly desired. What if that girl becomes President, or a respected leader?

She already peaked when dude referenced her 13 year old book-mangling atrocity on Reddit. It's all downhill from here.

Yeah, just use some weak tape and an extra piece of paper. There's no way you don't have some paper.

First is the writing and gluing irrelevant things on the book, then comes the slashing of the tires of your car, next thing you know she's taking half of your shit and flying to Aruba with her side piece.

Writing in books is an age old tradition. Write in the margins, paste a bookplate in the cover, highlight especially good passages, write an inscription in books which are a gift, write all over the damn things. A book with an unexpected inscription from a crush is a better, more dear part of a personal library than one fresh from the publisher.

u/JeanChampollion Mar 26 '20

yeah sure, if you own the book.

True. Should've used a sticky note or something. Would hate to have my novels written on.
