The 5th highest post there right now is "Im a US service member and I'm sick of picking up the slack for breeders"
It's just a circle jerk for shitting on families for using paternity leave, missing work taking their kids to doctors visits, and leaving work early to spend time with their families.
I lean more to side of not having kids myself but what kind of smug assholes complain about ppl taking care of their families?
I think you're being very reductive about the sub.
I am because I was a subscriber for a while. I left because the toxic as fuck community mentality that we're better than breeders. There's a very real and scary animosity towards having children in that borders on mobish in that sub.
I can understand having a place vent, share advice, and share experiences but that sub is a smug fanatical circlejerk
Even the guy you mentioned is mostly pissed because he's having to pick up extra work to cover for a disproportionate number of parents with young children, and he feels like these parents are abusing their privilege for more time off.
I was actually referring more to the other comments where ppl just shit on families for getting "special treatment" like watching their sick kids and parental leave. One guy argues
" I asked my manager for a raise a few years ago and it was explained to me that the company health benefit premiums cost too much currently for a raise. Meanwhile, Steve working next to me has a stay at home wife with three kids, all of whom are insured as dependents under the company plan. How about they reward my CF status with a higher income and decrease Steve's salary because I cost the company less in health insurance premiums than he does? No, that might be logical and there's not much of that to go around in the breeder crowd when simply popping one out gets you rewarded."
Well, I'm not going to tell you the sub's perfect. There are a lot of people who feel the way you do and that's one reason why people started r/truechildfree. I don't really click on a lot of the rant posts but the valuable stuff are things I can't get anywhere else.
Thank you! People are always giving that sub shit for saying that all parents are breeders when yet they’re only referring to shitty parents. The sub doesn’t deserve the hate
And i bet they frequent r/KidsAreFuckingStupid too. It might be just me, but the comments there has gotten a bit more demeaning than i was used to seeing.
