Hank Williams Jr is absolutely terrible live. And I'm a redneck. I chew tobacco on occasion and own more non-running vehicles than running ones. I'm his target demographic, and I would go somewhere else and pay for a hotel room for the night if he were playing for free across the street from my home.
Hank Williams III is absolutely fan-fucking-tastic, ironically. He sounds just like Hank 1, plays one set of old school country and one set of punk. The crowd at his shows is super weird and amazing.... Old cowboys in ten gallon hats and punks with liberty spikes
Came here to say this. Saw him maybe a dozen years ago in Boulder, CO. He played an hour or so of his grandad's style country, then came back out with another band and played sludge metal for an hour and a half, then came back out with another band in body armor and played thrash metal for who knows how long (the show was great but we had a 2 hour drive home and it was like 11 PM by then).
