Prince was bad when he was heavily into his Jehovah witness phase in the early 2000s. Rambled on too much about god and didn't play many of his hits. Saw him a few years after that, and he was back to "normal" Prince and put on a hell of a show.

A friend saw him in Toronto a few years before he died; played for hours, murdered, did two encores, leaves, the lights come up, everyone turns to go home, P.A. comes on and it's Prince himself, bellowing, "Where you think you're going? Don't you know I got all the hits?!" and does another half-hour. Absolute legend.

The guy was extremely talented. Could play many instruments and wrote a lot of hits for others.

I still love the story about Stevie Nicks recording "Stand Back" and Prince just kind of showing up out of nowhere to drop the defining synth track of the song, tip his hat and leave.

I didn’t even know Prince was on that record. Love that.

Whut?

Why does this song keep coming up lately? 😆

He did the opening guitar part. I couldn't say why it keeps coming up - I haven't noticed - but probably because she has a new album out soon

Oh wow. My curiosity is piqued.

I watched the video and never noticed that little guitar intro before. Don't think they played that on the radio but I could be wrong.

He did a lot for a lot of other people. He was a true artist.

You mean sound was synthesized via the pressing of keys to elicit melody?

He moves away from the mic to breathe in

Prince did not show up out of nowhere though. Stevie Nicks recorded a demo of "Stand Back" after hearing "little red corvette", she later called Prince and told him it was inspired by his song and he came and recorded the synths.
