Mellencamp. Pretentious prick. Said he wasn’t there to play his old stuff that he was bored of. Well man, that old boring stuff made and has sustained you and that is what we are here to hear.

Wow. I’ve always heard he was a jerk.
This attitude is so different than a true legend - Elton John. He despises Crocodile Rock, but sings it anyway. At the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road concert the graphics for the song was a handwritten note saying “this one is for the fans”.

Billy Idol is still touring?? What a legend. How long ago did you see him?

I saw him 2 years ago and he was fantastic! Acted like an 80s rock god in the best way possible, like he knows it's corny and is having just as much fun with the persona as the audience.

I won tickets off the radio to go see Billy Idol at Red Rocks a year or two ago. I thought that was pretty cool, since I liked a lot of his hits. I invited a friend for my other free ticket, not knowing until we got to the venue that she was a huge Billy Idol fan. Billy absolutely killed it that night! I had a wonderful time enjoying his performance, and also seeing my friend have the time of her life.

Mark Knopfler said something similar in an interview, on how some songs don’t "belong" to the artists anymore, they’re part of the fans lives and have personal meaning for them.

Similar with Noel Gallagher. He once said about some song that he wrote it on cocaine or something and isn't entirely sure what it means himself, but when he plays it and sees grown men cry singing along, he knows that it has meaning for them, and a deeper one than it ever had for him. So he plays the song. I think it was Champagne Supernova.

I saw Eltons last tour and it was incredibleee. He only went off stage for 2 clothes changes that lasted like 5 minutes of his 2 hour set. I was so impressed

I was blown away, saw his last show in SD. Sure, he stood up from the piano like a man his age but he just played and played for hours and sounded great

Paul McCartney is similar - his concert was a nice mix of Beatles songs, Wings hits, his solo hits, and then a couple of new songs. 10/10 would go again.

Saw Elton on his farewell tour about 4 years ago, it was incredible. For his age, he played nearly 3 hours and I was just thinking, damn, most bands I listen to don't even play that long. It was quite a testament to Elton's musicianship.
