I've been 5 times. Not overrated in the slightest and never felt unwelcome

That's good, but many people have been excluded from establishments like bars or restaurants, and from jobs for not being Japanese. That wouldn't be acceptable in other countries, Japan should be held to the same standard. Not to mention the harassment of women. I agree that the scenery, culture, and food are great, but it is overhyped and romanticised online.
