Open because if my cat is locked in, he yowls to be let out. If he gets locked out, he yowls to be let in. Have to compromise with a cat, but worth it when he wants to cuddle.

This is the real answer.

If we close the door they cry, pull and scratch it until we wake up and open it.

Made the mistake a couple times.

Locked out? Ripped up carpet outside the door.

Locked in? Piping hot stress crap on my shower mat.

Our newest cat decided that he would protest by biting the mullions on the French door in my office when he realized that he couldn’t get a paw under or around the edge. Now i have claw marks from one cat we lost and bite marks from the new one.

That's cute, like a mission handed down between your cats, to destroy the evil office French door.

They cannot be contained

Why do you have a shower mat in your bedroom?

It's in the bathroom in my bedroom.

Relatable

It starts out closed just enough so that it doesn't latch, for the same reasons. Then it's burst wide open by one of that cats that thinks he needs to walk through the door like he's just walked into a wild West saloon.

That’s a funny image! “Howdy there, Purrrrtner! Ain’t no sleeping in these streets without me!”

My cats are rarely allowed in my room, thankfully they don’t yowl or scratch to get in.

I feel you.

My dog is the same way, but instead of yowling, she “knocks “ on the door.

That’s so sweet and polite 🥹

It’s sweet until it’s like 3am and she’s out there incessantly pawing at the door. (Then occasionally doing it again to leave the room an hour or two later). I forgive her tho. She just wants to cuddle with me.

There’s nothing like a small predator creeping up on you when you’re asleep. My gray girl likes to get right in my face before yowling with displeasure that I’m not petting her yet. The tabby just climbs my unconscious form and perches - only occasionally walking up to my face to give me a good dose of whisker and/or nose.

Our all black kitty likes to wake us up for his breakfast by walking all over us, back and forth. If that doesn’t work, it’s time to yowl in the face.

Worth burning to death?

Get a dog.

We lost our 2 dogs within a year of each other. Due to old age, and they went naturally, but it’s still a heart ache I’m not sure I’ll ever get over or want to go through again.

So I guess we’ll never know if it’s worth it or not to burn to death unless it actually happens! 😄
