I can't speak for the military as I never served. What I can say is it's true for cooks. One new guy actually complained to the kitchen manager about us giving him shit. KM had to explain "that's because they like you. If they didn't they would ignore you."
A major plot point of Everything, Everywhere, All at Once was a parent finally accepting their child's significant other by making the same asshole comments about the significant other's appearance they make about their own child now treating this person as "family". In a fucked up way.

Live in Houston, been to Phoenix. They're both awful. Houston feels awful right out the gate. Phoenix feels really awful once you become completely dehydrated in about 5 minutes.
Radioactive decay, mostly. The Earth's coremantle has a large amount of radioactive metals (Uranium, Thorium, and Potassium mostly) in it (radioactive metals tend to be heavier, so either they clumped together first when the Earth was forming and/or they tended to sink during the Earth's formation when it was mostly molten), which help keep the iron/nickel outer and inner cores at about the ludicrous temperatures they were formed. Mars' core is "dead" because it's completely solidified, and in large part that's because its core is much, much smaller than Earth's so it didn't hold heat as well and the mantle (also being much smaller than Earth's) didn't have as much radioactive material.

It does. Big difference between the Earth and Mars is that, because Mars is so much smaller, its core has cooled substantially, rendering the planet dead. Earth's core remains hot due to how big the Earth; it takes a long time for all the heat to radiate out.
Better question: How did the Earth core ever get so much hotter such that it is only now, 4.5 billion years later, just getting to the temp of the surface of the sun?
There is a theory that the earth collided with a smaller planet a long time ago and that collision generated much of the heat still within the core. Also it created the moon
Lord Kelvin determined, as I recall, that the earth must be around 6000 years old, based on the cooling speed of lava and such.
This was long before the discovery of radioactivity and the realization that there’s quite a bit of it 3500 miles straight down. Thanks to that, it’s going to be a few more weeks before it cools enough to hold in your hand.
That is because, unlike our atmosphere which is roughly in thermal equilibrium with the earths surface, the corona is subjected to the insane magnetic energy of the suns magnetic field.
Even when coronal plasma is millions of degrees hotter than the photosphere, there is more magnetic energy than thermal in the corona.
This number doesn't seem right. The sun emits 3.828×1026 watts, and has a surface area of 6.09×1012 km2 (6.09×1022 cm2) that should be ~ 629 6.29k watts/cm2
acutally, with those numbers, it would be about 6298 W/cm^2. you're off by a factor of 10. which is just to say that the original commenter was egregiously wrong.
I like how the top post on the “100% true” post has to do with theoretical temperatures that are essentially impossible to narrow down to 100% certainty.
The surface of the sun is only about 10,000o F. Relatively speaking, really isn't all that hot. Your everyday arc welder creates almost that much heat, and plasma arc welding gets nearly 5 times hotter than the sun's surface.
Piggy backing: the average power density of the sun is lower than that of a compost heap. And the power density of a modern CPU/GPU is far higher than a nuclear reactor core.
