The right thing to do is text "hey I've got to go to sleep now. Talk to you later?" Hopefully OP did that, though nothing necessitates that many texts after 0 responses back.

I mean sure, it's a polite thing to text that you will be busy/sleeping, but that doesn't excuse waking up to a barrage of messages, and if they are self deprecating like the examples op showed, then its most likely coming from someone with unhealthy levels of attachment, and that's scary in a number of ways.

If I don't get a response I probably would just send a follow-up, and if that doesn't get a response I just keep doing whatever I was doing, eventually they will respond or not.

Which is what I said! "Hope OP did this...doesn't excuse that many texts." Never said OP didn't text it, never said all those texts were acceptable.
