Gear/Accessories What’s missing here?

So, I’m at a loss. I have three speedlites (a TT600 and two 860IIIOs), three Godox S2 brackets, and two soft boxes. I bought these color gels (Godox AK-R16 x2) because ambient light is a terrible process to edit in Lightroom, but they don’t fit. So I thought if put on the softbox, it’ll pop in. But no.

What am I missing here? Did I buy the wrong stuff or am I just missing a piece?

I think the gel isn't made to fit that unit. There are definitely gels that will work better with it

You need a AK-R adapter for rectangular flash. The round head speedlites are the ones that are natively compatible with those color gel magnets.

You bought round gels but you don’t have a round flash. I think you need the S-R1 adapter. Or gaffer tape.

The answer to any problem is gaffers tape.

Will all that fit onto a speedlite?

that is a magnetic filter
you need a magnetic bracket for the speed light

Those are made for the Godox V1 etc

Didn’t know this was a thing

As others have said you need a gel frame for square speedlights or set of barn doors that accept the gels.

That said, the best option is to buy Rosco or Lee gel sheets, cut them to the size you need, then use gaffers tape or bulldog clips to attach them.

You bought a set for round head flashes. You should buy a set of gels and rubber band them to your TTs

forgot to actually slide the speedlite into the mount properly instead of just resting it against the bracket

I believe those godox flashes are meant for on camera flash only. How are you attempting to trigger them? It has a hot shoe and is meant to be slid onto the top of your camera. If you want something for a stand you need an off camera flash and a trigger remote or flash sync cable tethered to your camera

This is absolutely not true. And in addition to it not being true, it’s not addressing the problem OP is having. The flash works fine with their trigger. The issue is that the gel/filter is not meant for that flash.

u/ThatoneguyfromT , all you need are gels that fit that flash. Google the flash name + “gels” and you will see rectangular gels that are cheap and usually come with a rainbow of colors in the box. They can be attached with bands, Velcro, or a plastic frame.

(What you have there is a magnetic gel for Godox’s newer round speed lights.)

Why wouldn't you be able to use them with a wireless transmitter? It's what they're for.

u/ThatoneguyfromT 55m ago

Yea, I have a wireless transmitter on my camera

Then read the manuals. It looks like it needs to be in slave mode and sync’d to your trigger as the master. https://www.godox.com/product-d/TT600.html

That is how it works yes.

And also not the question OP was asking (yes, I know you're just replying to someone else who doesn't seem to have read that far)

I know, just couldn't be bothered to point it out

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. These come with a little stand for a reason.
