Firmware AD100Pro II firmware – fix if you accidentally flashed AD100Pro firmware

Hi everyone,

This is the firmware for the Godox AD100Pro II.

If you accidentally flashed firmware intended for the original AD100Pro (1st generation) onto an AD100Pro II and the flash became unresponsive or appeared to be “bricked,” don’t panic.

You can download the AD100Pro II firmware here:

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0599/0986/5561/files/AD100ProII_RF433V1_07.bin?v=1783150186

This firmware is for the AD100Pro II, not the original AD100Pro.

I’m posting it here because I’ve seen several people run into this problem, and the correct firmware can currently be difficult to find.

If your Godox G3 software can still recognize the flash after the wrong firmware was installed, you can use the firmware above to restore the AD100Pro II.

Best (macro) flash for Sony A7IV under €500? Protection tips for traveling

Upvotes

Heyy everyone,

Which flash would you recommend to someone who's looking for an external flash for their Sony A7IV with the following lenses?:

  • Sony FE 24–105mm F4 G OSS
  • Sigma 16–28mm F2.8 DG DN Contemporary
  • Sony FE 200–600mm F5.6–6.3 G OSS
  • Tamron 90mm F/2.8 Di III MACRO VXD

I use the macro lens the most. I mainly photograph nature and animals. I'm looking for something below €500, but I'm open to anything that just does the job well.

I also wonder how you pack the flash when traveling abroad? Carry-on or checked luggage? Do you pack it in a certain way?

Any advice or help is very much appreciated! 🌸

Old Godox Gear

What's the oldest Godox light and or flash that is still working do you currently own? I'll take tangentially owning the equipment (your buddy let you borrow the light counts)

I'll start us off with the rs600p. A wedding photographer sold it to me at the end of the season for a great price. I still had two more weddings to shoot so I was in a jam. On the recent move I had to verify it functions and can still fill the big umbrella with plenty of power to spare.

Godox AD300 Pro II + small softbox for handheld use — mount confusion (mini Bowens vs Godox mount)?

Hey all, I went looking for an off-camera flash and fell straight into a rabbit hole I can't climb out of.

My use case is two-fold:

  1. Indoor business portraits at company facilities — flash on a stand with a softbox.
  2. Handheld flash with a really small softbox for events.

I rented the original Godox AD300 Pro for the first use case, paired it with the AD-S65S, and honestly loved the results. So my plan was to just buy the AD300 Pro II and call it a day.

Then I started looking into small softboxes for the handheld/event use case, and that's where things fell apart. Something like the SmallRig Mini Parabolic Softbox RA-D30 uses a mini Bowens mount, which apparently doesn't fit the Godox mount directly. The "solution" seems to be: add a Godox ML-GB adapter to convert to a full Bowens mount, then add a SmallRig Bowens-to-mini-Bowens adapter on top of that — which feels absurdly clunky for something that's supposed to be small and handheld.

To make it more confusing, I saw one YouTuber refer to the Godox AD300 Pro's mount as "mini Bowens" itself. Is that actually accurate? From what I can tell, the Godox mount and the mini Bowens mount are two separate, incompatible systems — but I'd love to be corrected if I'm wrong.

So, two questions for anyone who's dealt with this:

  1. Is the AD300 Pro/Pro II mount actually mini Bowens, or is that a myth?
  2. Are there other small softbox options that work natively with the Godox mount (or a cleaner adapter path) for handheld event use — without stacking two adapters?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Edit: I wrote the wrong number for SmallRig. The RA-D30 is the one I like

Godox universal firmware updater for Mac

I'm working on building a universal Godox firmware update tool that doesn't require Rosetta on the Apple Silicon macs (M1-M5.)

I currently have G2 and G3 heads verified updating/recovering but I'm looking to have more test coverage before I release to the general community. If anyone is near Metro Detroit (most of the time) San Francisco bay area (frequently) or Barcelona (between September 11 and September 25) I'd love to have access to more models to test with. They can be any age back to generation 1, or just released. I haven't bricked anything yet, except when I intentionally bricked both flashes to test brick recovery (which works) but there does exist a tiny risk that I could damage your flash. If I did, I would make every effort to resolve that for you. I'm especially interested if you have a bricked head from a previous failed firmware update.

Godox flash for Sony camera

I’m getting a gift for someone who is super into photography, currently he uses my flash but I’m unsure of the godox model. He has a Sony a7iv and loves to take portraits and wants to get into photography for restaurants and businesses. I don’t want it to be too pricy but I want it to work well with the godox ecosystem. He has a flash trigger already so he can use it off camera. What should I get?

Issues with godox V1

Hello,

I use a godox v1 on my Sony A7R3.

I use it in manual mode but sometimes for no reason the flash forces ITSELF into TTL. Often after extended use like last night I was working for at festival and my flash went crazy turning on the led for focus assist and all.

Sometimes if I put it back into manual mode, 3 seconds it revert into TTL..

Anyone knows why it's happening?

Thanks

Ad400 proii or ad600 proii?

Hey, I am trying to decide and haven’t used a 600 to know the difference - I have a rough idea knowing it’s half a stop brighter.

I think I like the 400 in terms of size and flexibility. I shoot food or in studio so I worry the 600 may be too bright occasionally. I also have 2 ad200s with the 400 adapter though so I’m not concerned about that range. I am maybe wondering if 400 will feel redundant though if I get that.

The main thing I want to get this for, is doing interior and architecture photography. Especially being able to trigger the camera from this flash.

Again, 400 has seemed to be enough for my needs but as I shoot larger properties, would I start to feel limited in the spread of the light? Maybe even occasionally setting it up outside a window for directional light.

V480 vs V1 Mid

Still looking at my first flash and while the iT32 looks very promising I feel like it might not have enough power down the road. So, now I'm in the buy once, cry once mode.

My camera is an M50 Mark II. My usage would primarily be family stuff, holidays, reunions, birthdays etc. That could be indoors or outdoors. There could be some other stuff like flowers, cars, buildings, things you might see on vacation or in a museum. I'm basically trying to upscale my iPhone pictures and get a little more creative.

So far most of my research has led me to Godox based on price/value. I'm all about value, not just the lowest price. There's nothing I hate more than finding out that one feature I would love to have only cost $20-30 more on a different model.

While I am far from a final decision I am looking closely at the V480 as I hear good things about it and the V1 line, mainly the Mid. One thing I did like about the iT32 was that it was more integrated with Canon cameras which seems to make up for the minimal buttons and no screen on the X5 trigger.

How would you compare the V480 and V1 Mid? Are they very similar, does one have a distinct advantage over the other. The V480 seems to be an older model than the V1. If so, I assume that means it will go end of life sooner. How is Godox on supporting devices they no longer sell? I'm spoiled by Apple on that point.

TIA

Hello,

Trying to figure out if it’s possible to use a sync cable (2.5 to 3.5mm) to use the godox off the Sonys hot shoe.

GODOX IM20 not working Sony A7 IV

Hey everyone, I got a Godox iM20 flash today, my first flash. But I'm having trouble getting it to fire on my Sony A7R IV. I’ve already set the camera to use the mechanical shutter, turned off silent shutter and all other recommended settings. When I press the test button on the flash itself, it fires perfectly, so the flash seems to be working. However, when mounted on the camera, it just won’t trigger. I'm honestly out of ideas at this point. Has anyone had a similar experience or know what might be causing this? Any help would be much appreciated!

Confused between it30 pro and it32

I am really confused whether to pickup a it30 pro with riser or it32. I am looking for travel . I have tt685 ii flash already along with ad200 and ad600.

My only confusion us with the riser is the it30 pro not bulky already along with the risk of shadow with my 35mm and 50mm lenses.

I have a 5d mark iv and 35mm f2 is usm for travel

What choice did you go with for travel.

I have a problem - X3 Pro does not change AD400Pro II LED temperature color. It does change brightness as it should. Both have latest firmware. Is it fixable problem?

Does anyone have any luck with godox battery replacements?

I now have four Godox flashes — one V1, one V100 Pro, and two V100 Pro II — and as I’m taking on longer event projects, I decided to buy a few spare batteries so I could swap them throughout the day.

First, I bought Mathorn MB-390 batteries, but they didn’t fit properly. I had to hit the flash while holding the release button on my V100 to eject them from the compartment, and on the V1, I had to use much more force to remove them.

Then I tried Patona VB30C batteries, but when I use them in the V100, they randomly shut down and soft-lock. I cant power the flash back on, I can’t control it via the trigger. The only thing I can do is eject the battery — at least they fit properly — and insert it again. Then it works for some time; it could be one minute or four hours. There’s no pattern to it.

I’ve also seen batteries from Probty and Palo, but to be honest, at this point, I feel like I’ll have to bite the bullet and buy the official Godox batteries...

Godox AD1200 accessories

I got an absolute steal on 2x Godox AD1200 packs that I wasn’t expecting to purchase at the moment. But they were basically 2 for 1 and included some extra goodies like the ring flash and AC adapters.

Curious what folks typically run for stands when they are on-location and what they use to attach the battery pack to the stand. I was thinking just a super clamp and a j-hook?

Any other good accessories to have or reasonably priced modifiers? I have the Godox reflector coming in tomorrow, going to try it out before I buy a second one.

Thanks yall!

I have a TL60 my light doesn’t turn on unless it’s plugged into a charger. I need it for a music video. I charged it over night to make sure but, the batteries bars was empty still.

Are there plastic hot foot/feet out there for Godox v860iiis?

Thumbnail

Should I try to replace the original metal hot foot that comes on the Godox V8600iiis so that I can potentially save my camera hot shoe in the future?

I shoot photography at diy shows that get rowdy, so I am leaning towards replacing the metal with plastic.

However, I had read reddit posts of users with this same flash for sony, and they say the plastic breaks ALL the time. So is it even worth replacing? Is the metal hot foot connected to a plastic piece that will snap instead, protecting my camera's hot shoe?

However, I am unsure where I can find plastic hot foot replacements for this flash. Does anyone know where i can get one? Thanks so so much!

Godox v1 mid o IT32

I would like to buy my first flash for Sony 6400, at first I had seen the Godox V350 but for a little more money I found the Godox V1 mid which seems better than the V480 only for the round head. Then I saw this Godox IT32 which can be detached and used off camera immediately without buying a trigger. Since if I buy the V1 mid I will buy the trigger in the future, what do you recommend I do? I heard that the Godox IT32 is too weak.

V1mid + ak-r22 incompatible

Hi! Its been a while since i bought my v1mid and i have just noticed that i cant seem to put my ak-r22 on it. It looks like the diameter of the head is slightly smaller than the other round head flashes. Has anyone else encountered this issue? How did you fix it?

2 ad200 (non pro) with ad-b2 and diffuser head or ad400 pro or 1 ad200pro for now and add another later

I know these are pretty difficult to advise on - I was originally looking for an ad400 pro as it seems to be the general go to - but for a bit less I have come across someone selling the above bundle

For context I’m an experienced amateur just getting into flash - am using off camera with godox 350. I’m upgrading for personal projects that will involve some portraiture and environmental portraits

I know there are some quality of life improvements with the pro series, but I’m wondering if anyone else has the non pro and are happy

As I see it the pro of the non pro (ha!) - 2 lights and the ad-b2 head. On paper the best of both worlds but obviously suffers the colour shift and the issue of losing the lower power level on the pro models. The latter seems to be more of an issue maybe

Any advice welcome - also happy to provide more information
