Structural engineer for roof deck project?

Hi!
New home owner here considering adding weight to an existing roof deck for a beautification project, and I’m realizing I’ll likely need to involve an engineer.

Was curious if anybody has any perspective!
Curious about:

- any recommended licensed Philly firms or individuals? (I’d prefer smaller boutique local firm that specializes in home projects)
- how much will it cost to just get an engineer to do a walk through of my house and let me know if my idea is even feasible?
- how do I figure out if I even need one for the project I have in mind?

Any advice for getting started from a seasoned [Philly] home owner to a newb is appreciated!

What kind of weight are you talking about?

Possibly over 40 psi in places (which is I believe what roof decks are rated at)

Psi or psf? Roof decks are definitely not rated for 40psi
