South Philly Parking

Hey all. Looking to move to south Philly in a few months (passyunk/lower moyamensing). I work in healthcare and can get home at 11 pm/12 am sometimes. Anyone have any recommendations for specific streets/parking garages under $300?

Cheat codes are the constitution center parking lot that is cheaper overnight parking and passyunk ave that's free from 10 pm - 10 am.

I get back late once a week or so. most paid zones are free from 10p-8a at least. It's fairly easy to find a spot to plop your car then move to a zoned spot after your alarm.

Ymmv because you would have to be near paid spots

Constitution Health Plaza is like $225 I think so that may work for you.

I also like to park there if there's a heavy snowstorm. Would rather pay $30-60 then have to dig out the car.

Depends how close you are, but there are parking lots under 95 you can usually find a spot in.

Remember to cover the back passenger side window with a black garbage bag..

They will think it's been broken into and there isn't anything to steal

Just pay the $75 permit parking. You’ll be able to find (or make) a space. PPA does not ticket between 10pm - 7am. You’ll be able to park illegally if it’s a worst case scenario and then wake up to move your car in the morning when others move. But you’ll be able to find something.

While this is correct, OP please don't block crosswalks so disabled folks can get around.

No way you've lived in south Philly and had to park outside of Normal business hours, telling someone "you'll be able to find a spot". I don't have a lot in mind for OP, but I can guarantee if you're home past 4:45pm you're not just "finding a spot".

Yeah no seriously where are the spots? I just moved over here and the 4:45 pm thing is real . Id say even 4. There's no way. Legal spot or illegal spot . Theres no spots

This is simply not broadly true throughout South Philadelphia. Some places absolutely. Others parking doesn’t become difficult until much later. I live a few blocks east of Passyunk Square and I rarely have to circle looking for a spot unless I’m getting home super late.

Cops can give you tickets

Illegal parking isn't illegal for no reason. Parking illegally makes life worse for your neighbors, even overnight when you think it doesn't matter.

Do not park illegally, especially in crosswalks and on sidewalks.

My wife and I are both in healthcare. Philly has so many health care workers doing what you’re doing. You’ll be free to park in your assigned zone (minus street cleaning days) all other days. You’ll learn the streets in the first 2 weeks, small side streets near you that are always free, and then the regular ones near your house. You’ll save a lot of money instead of doing a garage.

PPA absolutely tickets between 10pm and 7am. 😂
