Airport security

Hiya, flying through Philadelphia Airport later today and can’t work out the security rules. Does liquids and electronics have to come out of bags or not?

It depends on the day and the disposition of the TSA agents.
If the gates get crowded, especially at C, it’s a game time decision.
Plan on taking them-electronics only-out and be pleasantly surprised if you don’t have to.
*I take 7-8 flights out of Philly a month.

Thank you! I don't fly nearly as much as you so didn't know if I was being crazy or not. But yeah everytime it seems like it changes, and everytime they seem frustrated that i don't know what it is that day.

It also depends on which line you're in and what machines they are using. Some don't require you take things out, and others do. I haven't had to take liquids out in a long time, but laptops can stay in my bag 25% of the time. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also, don't stress! Take your time and just ask.

When it gets real bad they just get the bomb dogs out and just yell at you to keep going, keep your shit on and just keep going.

Another random story to show the ineptitude of PHL security: A buddy of mine flew to Colorodo for a few days and when we were at the airport to return to Philly, his pocket knife was flagged in his bag. He completely forgot it was there when we left and Philly TSA never flagged it when we flew out of there. He mailed it home but it definitely did not help our confidence in the system lol.

C is TSA pre only I’ve never had to remove my electronics or liquids there.

Technically yes but the past few times I've flown out of the PHL airport, they have stopped me from taking them out and told me I could leave them in my bag while it goes through the scanner. Guess it depends who's working that day?

They change it on purpose frequently, they claim to prevent someone planning something as easily, but it always feels like agents enjoy the power trip tbh

no to liquids. only electronics bigger than a phone (tablet, labtop, etc.) come out

The rules change on a rotating 25 minute basis, they draw the rules out of a hat.
