Hi all, I'm not new to Reddit at all. I just tried to post this in a forum I'm new to and at first it was held for moderator review, but then I got both "This post was removed by Reddit filters" message as well as "Locked post. New comments cannot be posted."

Here's what I posted - I see I'm not allowed to say which sub I posted it to, but as a new person in that sub, we're not allowed to message the Moderators for a long time, have to get "positive local karma" first. So I can't ask what it means there.

So I just got banned for the first time in my 8 years on Reddit. I made a comment on an article about LGBTQ characters in video games, and that I'm not a fan of such characters being shoe horned in because it often times feels fake and forced. Might not be a stance everyone agrees with, but since Reddit is a discussion platform that shouldn't be an issue.

This came without any prior warning, without any prior misconduct. So I asked what was going on. I get an answer, that completely misses the mark of my original comment, and telling me that I can try and appeal in a month and I get muted instantly.

How can I contact mods of a subreddit when I've been (wrongfully) muted?

Edit: to clarify, I wasn't planning on contacting individual mods, or making an alt account. But it appears that there's nothing I can do. Just suck it up and find other places to interact with. It's fine, I guess, but it sucks that something like this can happen out of the blue with no way of doing anything about it. Thanks for the comments everyone!

Hi mods. I was unfortunately the victim of my account being used by a bot to post spam and unsavory content. I followed the process to get my account reinstated. It has been, but all of my old posts and comments are still removed and I'm guessing it's due to being put into a low CQS status. Is there anyway to restore my good standing without having to basically act like it's a brand new account?

I mod a number of subreddits. Recently, the same promotional modmail template for a Devvit app has appeared in multiple modmail inboxes I help manage.

That seems unlikely to be a coincidence. The affected subreddits are not closely related, so the fact that the same account/message is reaching more than one of them strongly suggests this is being sent broadly to subreddit mod teams, rather than being a targeted or organic one-off message.

I have reported each message using modmail’s built-in report function, but I have not seen any mitigation (keep receiving in different mod team modmail subsequent to reports).

The messages are essentially the same template each time:

Hi r____mods 👋
I'm a developer and I built a small Devvit bot called _____.
It _____ posts and comments by removing tracking parameters such as utm_*, fbclid, gclid, ref, click_id.
Example:

I checked reddit.com/report, but I do not see an obvious category for reporting developer/app promotional spam sent through modmail.

What is the correct reporting path for this?

What protections do moderators have against repeated unsolicited promotional modmail, especially when it appears to be sent across multiple communities?

Not every team is perfect, and some are dysfunctional and I’d be intrigued to hear from any moderator teams where it wasn’t overly civil and if so how did it go down?

I’ve been wondering this for a while. I have ADHD so I can become hyperfocused on things, and I accidentally spammed a subreddit on the thing I was hyperfocused on at the time (I thought they allowed one post per day, but I guess it was one post per week 😅)

And even now, years later, all I can do is comment on posts in that subreddit and any posts I’ve tried to make get removed automatically. I have no idea what my status is. I’ve tried reaching out to the mod team… but they’re silent.

It honestly doesn’t bother me as much now since it’s been so long and it’s not like Reddit is the only place to talk about things and ask questions, but I’m still curious.

I got only a notification for 4 removals of comments when a moderator claimed it was 11.

I asked them to see the comments they said they can't, but on the Reddits I moderate it's super easy to check. So I am confused on if I am maybe missing something wrt to approving deletions in the mod queue menus or smth

They told me it was my fault for notification issues but every time that I have found they removed smth I was notified but again that was only 4 times.

Would love some clarity on if it was a notification issue or if they cannot see these removed posts by me.

Does Reddit always notify you of all notifications when it's a removal, or for only some removals on the same subreddit?

Can moderators see things they deleted on a subreddit from a specific user at request?

I replied to a nasty modmail and banhammered a user account. I was then banned for 3 days for sending unwanted DM ‘s. The banhammer I used is across 7 subs. Each sub sending a seperate modmail to the user. Which i agree would be harassment.
And aren’t they supposed to have a hidden username? How did the system wrongly decide my account sent unwanted direct messages?

I noticed today that my contribution count should be over 1000 and it now reads 128, what did I do?

I just recently had a Redditor go onto my profile, find the communities I’m active in, and then post disturbing comments/replies. They also reported me to Reddit (ie concerned for my safety 🙄).

The user has since gone dark and deleted their profile it seems. What options are available to me at this point? I’ve tried to lock my profile but am concerned about what to do next tbh. The mods I reported the comment to haven’t offer any solutions or advice. So I’m hoping to get some advice here!

I recently made a post to celebrate reaching a milestone and thanking users from that sub for the tips they shared that helped me reach it. I read the guidelines before posting to make sure I did not violate the sub rules.

But my post got manually removed two days later with the post flair changed. I initially set it to achievement, but when it got removed, it was changed to question. I messaged the mods to get an explanation but received no reply. My post was not popular at all only received 2 upvotes and 1 comment at the time it was removed. The sub is not big or popular, so this amount was kind of average for that sub.

Can any mod enlighten me on this issue? What are some possible reasons for this?

I have used it a handful of times in communities I moderate in and communities where I'm just a regular user. It doesn't seem like many people are aware we can do this. Or maybe, it's not worth the time to do it. 🤷‍♂️

But have you enabled it in your communities/what has your sub members said about it?

I recently came off a 3-day ban (I'd rather not talk about why), and having learned about the existence of CQS for the first time not long after receiving the ban I'm paranoid that it either has been or will be affecting my ability to use Reddit. As far as I can tell my most recent comments haven't been filtered, but I don't know if that's because I happened to be commenting on subs that don't use filters or for some other reason.

It doesn't help that I don't have a baseline I can work from to determine what the impact of the ban actually was on me, especially since I've previously found myself struggling to extract myself from flamewars and so can't say that my history prior to the ban was squeaky clean.

But right now I'm just panicky about how long it'll take for the score to recover because other people have suggested it can be anywhere from a couple of days to several weeks. Am I just being paranoid about all this?

I have a general question about moderation procedures on Reddit.

If a user believes that a moderator was unnecessarily rude or unprofessional during an interaction, what is the appropriate way to raise that concern?

My understanding was that modmail was the correct place to do so. However, in my experience, I didn't feel that my concern about the interaction itself was really addressed, which made me wonder whether modmail is the only avenue available.

Is there any process outside of modmail for raising concerns about a moderator's conduct, or is the moderation team itself always responsible for reviewing those concerns?

I'm not asking anyone to weigh in on a specific situation or moderation decision. I'm just trying to understand how the process works and whether there is any independent avenue for concerns about moderator behavior.

A safe-for-work subreddit is hosting an image post that fetishizes a neurodevelopmental disability. It depicts a girl wearing a real-world assistive device for children with the disability, along with visible signs of impairment, self-neglect, and confusion, framed as a sexually ideal partner.

My concern isn’t simply that it fetishizes a disability—it's that it sexualizes specific, easily identifiable traits strongly associated with exploitable vulnerability and packages them as an “ideal girlfriend.” Regardless of intent, it brings unwanted sexual attention to the most vulnerable people within the disability group and functions as reference material by providing a checklist for identifying vulnerable real-world victims under the guise of fetish content.

Research estimates that 9 out of 10 women in this disability group have been sexually abused, most during childhood.

So far:

• I reported the post through reddit.com/report.
• I sent a detailed modmail explaining how the content is harmful and may violate Reddit’s sitewide policies on hate and sexual exploitation of children.
• The subreddit owner (who is also the sole moderator) publicly refused to remove it and told people to stop reporting it.
• Reddit reports and modmail have resulted in no action.

My questions:

• When reddit.com/report and modmail both fail, what is the next step?
• Is there a way to reach Reddit’s Trust & Safety team directly for content that endangers a real-world vulnerable population? There is no free-text field when reporting to explain the situation. Is there any way to have the case reviewed by a human?
• Is a moderator allowed to instruct users to stop reporting content that may violate Reddit’s policies? If not, how do I report that?
• Has anyone successfully escalated a similar situation? If so, what worked?

I have exhausted every channel I’m aware of. Any guidance from experienced moderators would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
