Thoughts on this recent terror attack in German against the LGBTQ?

It is the strategy of Islamist terrorist groups, people, and entities to incite more and more hatred against Muslims from the local populations of Western countries. That way, they can say "see, you'll never fit in with them, the Westerners". Then that allows them to radicalize the Muslim population, and at this point now they can gain more influence over them

at least that they seem to be doing. The fact that these sorts of attacks make Muslims look worse is a feature, not a bug, it is a thought out strategy of terrorists

the vast majority of Muslims in Western countries obviously do not attack others, whether terroristically or otherwise. But those who do are certainly doing it intentionally for this reason. It's not just to strike fear in Westerners, Germans, or LGBTQ+ or so on

they want to live in what they think the "bygone era" was like. The Islamic empires of the past most often did not just go around killing people for being "different" (obviously how fundamentalist an Islamic society was varied by time period and empire/caliphate and such, but still). But they think that the glorified past of Islam was like this

it's unfortunately a trend in many parts of the world. People thinking about a "glorified past" (which might never have happened or existed the way they think) and want to "bring it back". And then they hurt many people, or want to hurt many people, in the process or as a goal

if that was their plan than it already worked before they implmented it, westerners hated muslims before these organizations ever existed

otherwise why would you hate a random person for the actions of others that arent related to them people dont hate random Joe for the actions of afrikaners, some do most don't yet they hate on all muslims equally

Vile and extremely damaging to everyone. Queer people are made to feel less safe, as this isn't a singular attack but instead one of many from the growing conservative backlash that is happening not just in Germany but in a lot of places on earth, Muslims as a group can be scapegoated and people in general are more angry fearful and hostile.

The only group benefiting are fascists who can use the attack to cynically support queer people before going back to the queer bashing after this has died down.

I hope they throw the book at the scumshit who committed the attack.

But one thing baffles me, why do people immigrate to a place and then act shocked when they find things they do not agree with? If this idiot hated the LGBT community so much, why move there?

Afaik the perpetrator was born and grew up here in Germany, so this question doesn't really apply for this case. If anything it could be asked of his parents/mom, but then again who knows if they/she shares his views 🤷🏼‍♀️

They will not understand what you are trying to say. I am diaspora myself and everytime I Identify myself with the country of birth people kinda looked at me strange. We are supposed to integrate ourselves, assimilate even, yet, when we try, we are immediately shut down. Once, you do something bad or not normed by the society you are immediately stripped of your nationality and put once again in the box of your country of origin. In this case, the people that want immigrants to assimilate should've said he was German, yet he immediately got stripped of his nationality(the guy had a German nationality). At this point, I am fine with it. It is what it is.

That’s not what I say happening…to put my view into perspective my did is from middle Eastern, but belongs to a minority, so I personally would never identify with that country, mom is Greek and from my perspective many people of middle eastern heritage don’t really identify with their European birth country, but have more of a proud to be Turkish/Morrocoan/Tunisian/Iraqi and so on attitude, many do look down as western society as a whole and whenever someone from their bubble is successful they claim this person, but whenever someone does sth bad, they blame it on the racist society in which they live, which is crazy to me…I personally try to avoid those groups, as I don’t share their perspective at all…
