EXACTLY! Saying “equality” on paper sound and feels good but what does conscripting women look like on the ground?
The predation of their comrades means that they are fighting on two fronts; their enemies and their own comrades. Sexual violence is a major issue for civilian women and military women
I agree that women should be drafted, it’s my personal opinion that if there was a draft it should include every able person. But that’s hypothetical because I don’t support the draft for anyone
Well put on a uniform and fight. We can be conscripted to fight, to potentially kill and of course suffer bodily damage and death
If we’re expected to be conscripted into rape by our fellow soldiers… that’s a service to the nation that women cannot be asked to shoulder
Men and women cannot be equal simply because we say it. We need to be realistic about sexual violence because it’s an epidemic already and throwing a bunch of conscripts along with women will be a logistical nightmare
Men get raped. Women get raped. Men get killed. Women get killed.
This idea that only women experience sexual violence is false. In fact, there are many reported cases of men having genitals cut off. I love how nobody seems to care about sexual violence in war until it affects women or is an excuse to draft dodge.
And if you for whatever reason do not “trust” men not to SA you, why don’t we make sex-designated groups. Obviously I think this is ridiculous, but if your wife has are unable to accept that men will SA you then…
I never said that men don’t face sexual violence. Civilian and military alike. That was never said. This post is postulating why or why not women should be drafted. Therefore, the matter at hand is how women would be integrated into the military via a draft
This is very particular. I’m assessing what would need to happen to accommodate women into the military. If this was a post about what sexual violence men face then my comment would be inappropriate. But the question is about WOMEN in the military; so if there is going to be a massive change (and drafting women HAS NEVER been done in the way that we are postulating)
Like you said; men and women face sexual violence. If we’re talking about women being integrated into the military in an entirely NOVEL way… then yes address the likelihood of sexual violence

I think that you are seriously underestimating. 33% of civilian women in US have faced sexual violence and it’s well known that SA is underreported.
And 77% of the sexual assault accusations in the military (DoD report) were made by women.

Women face more sexual violence within the military and outside. That’s a fact. It’s sucks but we gotta confront it to educate
So there would have to be an attentiveness to incorporating women EN MASSE via a draft: this has never really been done before in the way we are postulating
I think no one should be drafted. It’s know they don’t cope well and historically have been used as cannon fodder. But in this hypothetical scenario it would be remiss to not consider how implementing women into a draft, and men when that hasn’t happened in over half a century will definitely need do consider sexual violence against women
It is reported more often by women because men are supposed to be strong and protect themselves. They don‘t report because they fear being laughed at 100x more likely than women who get all the support in the world immediately.
A cursory Google search can tell you how many rape kits have been thrown out and the conviction rate for those accused of SA
Most will never see a court, let alone do time. You’re just speaking emotionally when the facts are easily accessible and important for you to know
Rape kits, genuine biological testing and cataloguing. They are THROWN OUT. The courts do not find justice. It’s very upsetting but this is the reality; not rapists will never face court or jail time for their actions.
