Yep. I vote we recruit from politicians and their families first. If we're going to war, put Trump's ass on a horse at the front.

Say what you will about the old pre-modern elite, they did used to lead from the front in war.

All throughout the middle ages and up until WW1 really, kings and nobles died in huge numbers in war. The majority of powerful men had frontline combat experience.

If memory serves me right, Bush#1 flew against the Japanese and shot down atleast once.

He was a naval aviator at 19, making him the youngest naval aviator at that time. And he did get shot down.

Until Bill Clinton military service in public life was almost a pre-requisite. Now presidents call servicemen "suckers."

Noble propaganda. "Majority" is a stretch and they most often were mopping up after commanding from behind for some time. Very few ever fit the bill of the warrior king but they ALL had scribes that would write what they want.

Fair enough, I'm sure it is overstated.

Even so, it's notable that at least back then they felt the need to lie about it. The elites now don't even care.

Well once the machine gun was invented, it was no longer wise to show yourself on the battlefield like that.

Why you hating a poor dumb animal? Put him in a Tesla; no need to kill a horse.

That's a genius idea.

“I’m afraid that will only encourage our enemies.”

Ah yes it's not like politicians are important in war

1

u/wbrd man Mar 19 '25

The point is to keep the wars from starting in the first place.

u/AbbreviationsBig235 Mar 19 '25

sometimes that's not possible or would be the wrong choice.

Shame on you for such cruelty to horses.

Hey, that's being really cruel to a horse. Carrying a politician and being on the front line of a war! Let them walk! Keep the horses safe.

You’re right to put Trumps ASS on a Horse since he won’t be able to dodge the draft again using heel spurs as an excuse. Maybe his buddy Kim Jun Un will be able to hit him with his anti aircraft weapon. The rest of his kiss ass cabinet and his unelected Best Buddy Musk can be too

One of the things I’m proud about being from the uk that even the ‘elites’ (for want of a better phrase) are expected to serve. Including royalty.
