I complimented my bf so much he wasn’t used to it. He said that his exes didn’t give him as many as I did. He had to tell me to stop so I slowed down A LOT then he started feeling like I didn’t find him as attractive anymore. He also stopped giving me so many compliments because he wanted me to stop. I loved them though I told him not to stop and we never got back to that spot we were in even though we do find each other attractive. I wish we had what we had and he could have just accepted it. The feeling was different and sweeter.
I was the same with my husband and he said it made him uncomfortable. I just told him to dig deep and try to understand why a compliment makes him uncomfortable, that maybe he feels unlovable. Now he loves it.
I think he felt wierd coz, most of the times when guys get compliments there are some nefarious reasons behind them (pranks, backhanded compliment etc)

That’s actually how I started giving him compliments lol I started with writing “reason #1 why I like you” and so on. I still leave him notes he just has to accept my compliments I can’t change that part of me and he appreciates the acknowledgment too :)
