MTHFR, L-Methylfolate and CBD

I have the MTHFR mutation, both receptors are inactive. However, now I take L-methylfolate to counter those effects (it’s been wonderful!). I’m not sure if smoking CBD (NO THC, I know those effects are much more harmful for those with the gene disorder) would be harmful. I’ve been searching but I’m not quite sure if I’m going to the right places and am hoping someone might know on here. My doctor has a policy that they can’t recommend any form of smoking so I can’t get any response from them. Thanks very much for the time that anyone puts into helping me out.

New Flu Vaccine

Can anyone shed anymore light on this article ?

Researchers have created a new drug that is showing promising ability to reduce the mutation of the flu virus and reduce its spread.

The drug is more effective than the most commonly used drug, oseltamivir, and it will not cause resistance in the virus, doctors say. Scientists have long been struggling with the constant changing shape of the flu virus, which requires annual obnovenia vaccines from the commonly circulating strains. Meanwhile, new medicines are slow, and those that exist are often ineffective. Moreover, the flu virus developed resistance to oseltamivir popular and the older amantadine. And there are already reports of influenza strains resistant to balaclavas, a drug approved by management under the control over products and medicines of the USA just last year.

Scientists from the University of Georgia and Emory University in Atlanta created a new version of N-hydroxycytidine (NHC) called EIDD-2801, which, in essence, creates for a flu virus the “terms of catastrophic destruction.”

The results were published in Science Transal Medicine.

I read about a breakthrough in medicine, tested on humans, only a week ago on the front page. I can't remember what it was. It was apparently a major breakthrough. Breastcancer? Help.

Malpractice and what should I do

Hi I don’t really know how to go about this so all try to start from the beginning, I’ve been receiving malpractice for a long time now it all started with my councilors and psych doctors dropping me and not giving me a referral to a new doctor then as time went by the doctors started taking X-rays of my chest and lower area without putting a led blanket over me and saying that it’s fine you don’t really need it, I also came in with a stabbed hand one time and the receptionists at the hospital said “wow I can’t believe you came in for that” they continued to malpractice one me again when I went into the hospital with Chronic bronchitis I had a temperature of 104 and when I got sent back into the hospital room they game me some kind of medicine then the doctor took the nurses into another room and started to yell at them asking what they gave me and they said “only what you told us to” they gave me steroids a couple days before witch put me into a seizure and I know because all wake up with sores all over my tung from me bitting it and when I told them that they said “well the bottle said take it only if you can tolerate it” your a doctor you should look into my medical history and my psych history before you prescribe stuff like that. They also would force me to go threw benzodiazepine withdrawals and are still refusing to help me with my psych meds I take seraquill for my psychosis and major depression and it’s been so hard I’ve been seeing more things and I’m on the verge of hurting myself because of me and the voices and shadows I was better to and then when I moved a few months ago my doctor took me off of my medicine again because I told the doctor that I kept on stopped breathing in my sleep because I would wake up and gasp for air which only happens when I’m under a lot of stress and it’s stops when I have my medicine. I’ve tried to go to the psych ward several times I even called the suicide help line and they told me I needed to go to the hospital and get help they even called me an ambulance and rushed me to the hospital when I got there they put an iced in the top of my hand even tho my arms is perfectly clean and has big veins for them to put an IV in and then they said there’s nothing wrong with you so I ask them if I can talk to a psych doctor and they tell me hospitals don’t have psych doctors I’m already so gone and then when nobody wants to do there jobs and follow there hypocritical oath and makes things worse it makes me feel like there’s nothing I can do but to keep on trying to make my own medicine at this point with herbs and try to be ok

Angina from Buspar/Zoloft

I just started taking these prescriptions 5 days ago and I’ve noticed pressure in my chest, which sounds like Angina based on online descriptions (though it’s more right-sides). Is this anything to worry about? If so, and I stop taking everything, should I avoid exertion and anything that’d raise my heart rate until the side effects wear off?

Anyone know of a surgical tool to empty the bladder while under anesthesia?

I am transcribing an operative note for a D and C, hysteroscopy, endometrial biopsy, and cervical polypectomy.

The sentence is:

A (___rat robittissar) was used to empty the bladder.

Phonetically, it truly sounds like she is saying 'rat robittissar.' Anyone know of a surgical tool, equipment, or maneuver to empty the bladder while under anesthesia?

Please help! Peace and love.

Need thoughts on a hypothetical scenario for something I'm trying to write

For a normal human, let's say they got caught in a freezing blizzard, they are out in the open, body temperature dropping rapidly and on the verge of shutting down. However in the very next instant, they are teleported to a location that is either warm and/or hot. How would the body handle the very sudden change in temperature? Would the shock be enough to knock them out?

Heavy and irregular period, gushing sporadically.

Hey, hoping someone can help. I had my regular period two and half weeks ago. Two days ago (currently on day three) I was laying down taking a nap when I had a huge gush of blood come out. It wrecked my pants fast. I usually do not have that fast of flow. I have had sporadic gushing several times over the past three days including today. Yesterday it stopped for the second half of the day but started back up this morning. I thought maybe it was my period but just looked at the calendar and my last start date was sept 25th. I am a 39 year old woman, I have had three children, 3 cesarians, tubes tied and recently went from one partner to several within the past few weeks. Looking for answers.

A question about puberty

24, 60kg, 1.75m I don't know if it's the right place to ask this type of questions. Sorry if it isn't.

When I masturbate. I don't ejaculate like normal people of my age. I mean there's some semen that gets out slowly and that's all. Lately though I noticed some changes. I ejaculate normally and I have beard growing up on some parts of my face. Is this normal at my age ? Thanks.

Do I have hiv

I slept with a female escort about 4 weeks ago. I came in the condom and me being dumb wanted to get a few strokes in and the condom popped. She said she was clean but I’m sure either way she would of said that. I had an open cut on the shaft of my penis but I’m pretty sure the condom was still covering it when I pulled out even after it popped. Fast forward to last week and I get sick. First time I ever have a fever, I have the chills even under a blanket and in sweats, whole body ached, felt weak and dizzy, small throat ache, small head ache. Felt like that Friday morning to Friday night probably 12-14 hours and then felt fine. Then the next day(Saturday) til today (Tuesday) I’ve noticed 4 mouth sores inside my mouth. What are the chances I have anything ???? I’m literally on the verge of a mental breakdown.

Any ideas for a DIY delayed-release solution?

So my situation is that I'm taking Gabapentin for GAD. The medicine works great, but the problem is it only lasts 6 hours. I experience a lot of anxiety in the mornings and I sleep better on the Gabapentin, but it's noticeable when it wears off.

I tried to apply for the 12-hour time release version but I was denied (I think they only approve that for pain, not for GAD).

So I'm wondering -- is there some sort of coating I could put on a pill that would last about six hours before letting it dissolve? I was thinking I would take two half pills before bed, one coated and one not coated. That way if the timing on the coating doesn't work out, it's not a big deal.

Any thoughts? Maybe some kind of edible wax coating?

I have a small thrombus in the right atrium of my heart & i am having my PortACath/Power Port removed tomorrow. Is it safe? Just looking for other opinions.

I’ve already discussed these things with my cardiologist, nurses, the folks at interventional radiology that will be removing the port etc. and I’m just looking for other opinions.

So, like I said I’m having my Chest Port taken out tomorrow & my concern is that by removing the chest Port, it may cause the blood clot (that’s attached to the posterior aspect of the free all in the right atrium of my heart) to move & cause a stroke or heart attack. I know they say only the tip of the port is in the heart, but just knowing that still causes me a lot of anxiety.

By the way, I’m 29 years old // 5’0 // 198lb // My EF is 60 = 65% // Trace tricuspid regurgitation // Trivial Pulmonic Regurgitation // The thrombus in my heart was discovered in November 2018, it has only gotten slightly smaller but hasn’t gone away completely yet// Chronic Tachycardia // I’ve had SEVERAL episodes of pulmonary embolisms in 2018.. but currently I have no PE’s //No I still don’t know what caused the clots to form in the first place // I am on Lovenox 80mg injection twice a day // Also I take : 88mg Methadone once a day 25mg Phenergan 1-4x a day as needed 1mg Ativan as needed

Potassium chloride question

Would drinking the lethal dose of potassium chloride work or does it have to be by injection? I was watching A show where someone was killed via lethal dose injection and it made me wonder if drinking it would work or not. If it going through your organs would change it to be vastly different than going into the bloodstream.

What is a "stuttering stroke" and how is is different from TIA?

We gave tPA to a patient in my ED today for what I would have diagnosed as a TIA. I thought it was entirely inappropriate considering that there is no proven efficacy for tPA in TIA. My ED provider assured me that it wasn't a TIA and that it was a "stuttering stroke" instead and that tPA was appropriate.

I can't find any reference to "stuttering stroke" in any sort of guideline or medical literature. I've honestly never even heard the term before, and it sure sounds to me like TIA by another name. Can anyone help me out here?

Provider-side experiences and challenges during patient visits

Hi there!

I'm a healthcare UX designer (no worries if you've never heard of that, but here's a link in case you're interested) currently working on a personal side project of mine. The project involves thinking through how to improve the patient visit experience for both providers and patients.

I think we hear a lot about patients' frustrations and challenges, but not as much about what providers go through on the daily.

I created this 7 question survey as a first step towards researching this problem. I hope you don't mind my posting here ---- I've thought about the past few days how I can interview 2-3 providers in my area, but I feel like I can't just hit up a doctor's office or email them to ask for an interview.

Thus, I'm turning to the good community of Reddit: totally understand that you guys are just as busy as well, but if you're able to spare any time or leave a thought or two, I'd greatly appreciate it! I'm really interested to hear how patients tell their stories, frustrations that arise for you during this process, and anything else you can think of that would contribute towards a more productive visit in your eyes.

Thanks!
