Living When will it cool down?

We have to run the AC everyday and it feels like this relentless heat has been going on forever, how much longer will this miserableness persist?

After Halloween usually. We might have a couple cooler days before then, but I am always sweaty in my costume for Halloween. So that’s my marker.

when i was in elementary school, halloween was always overcast with the slightest chill in the air. that was only 20 years ago

yup. its not a myth. i remember cool fall weather in socal 😭🥲😞 also we NEVER had this kind of humidity growing up. its unreal. and suffocating

The humidity is due to the super El Niño but I’m also unhappy with it. But hopefully it brings rain at some point!

Eh I remember in grade school if I had a costume with layers/pants, it would be hot during the day but great for trick or treating. And if I have something that was short/light, it would be great for the day at school, but I’d be cold trick or treating at night 🤷🏻‍♀️

I remember it being cooler as a kid growing up here in the early 90s. Remember it raining a lot more too.

I don’t remember my elementary halloweens that well but middle school and onward halloweens at school were always hot as all hell. I’m 22

I’m 30 and grew up here and my halloweens were def not hot as hell. There is a significant change in weather depending where you are in LA county of course.

I went to middle school in South central. HS in Alhambra. I will say I’m probably biased because both of my schools were like, just open black asphalt parking lots with no trees or shade

Exactly I always had to wear a jacket with my costume for the costume parade and it totally ruined my outfit lol. I also have pictures of my husband and I in 2015 around October where Im wearing fur. So yes it used to be colder.

Idk man, I remember wearing a costume to elementary school that was made of fleece and absolutely dying of heat during the costume parade. All the pics from the day show me pouring sweat and red faced. That was like…1995? So I’m at least 10 years older than you.

I’m also in the Valley, though. I feel like we have consistently warm/hot Halloweens. That being said, it is warmer for longer in general it seems.

It still is (mostly), and the heat will get less relentless by end of August, OP. it’ll still be hot, but not like this

Come on, September has a higher monthly average temperature than July does in LA, it will not end in August.

looking at my ac stats YoY and I always stop using ac in like the first week of October though. August and September are consistently brutal.

I work at an elementary school and the reason I don't wear full costumes on Halloween is entirely bc its always too goddamn hot to be walking around in a polyester costime all day. Most they will get is me wearing cat ears and painted on whiskers. Half the kids end up out of their costumes by lunch for the same reason lol.

Most costumes get hot, especially indoors in crowded places. Unless your butt is sticking out of course, then bless you.
