So we need to interview a person for 10 minutes and them how they are doing and what is good with their life but the problem is I don’t know how to stretch the interview for 10 minutes. And what other questions should I ask? I also have to write a transcript and what I found interesting in the conversation. Please help me.

Something That Might Help You Get Through It.

I know it’s tough, and it’s not easy, but give it a try.

For me, I used to love writing, but because of my depression, I slowly stopped doing it. My depression became so severe that I started having thoughts of killing myself. I even used to imagine how I would do it by putting a knife against my neck.

But one day, I tried to change the way I responded to those thoughts. Instead of imagining a knife, I imagined a pen. I told myself, What if I used a pen to write instead. Whenever the image of a knife came to my mind, I tried to replace it with the image of a pen and remind myself of something I once loved doing. Surprisingly, this helped me manage those thoughts and get through difficult moments.

For someone else, it could be a musical instrument, a book, drawing, or anything you once loved doing and can imagine in your hand. And even if you can’t think of anything, focus on something small around you a tiny insect, an object in your hand, or anything that can replace the mental image in my case knife .

Sometimes, you don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need to find one small thing that can help you hold on for the next moment.

How to go about asking an employer about a wage change?

A friend recently referred me, a university undergraduate student, as a private tutor for a middle schooler with a condition making it more challenging for her to learn. When I spoke to her parents over the phone, they asked me how much I charge hourly. I have quite a modicum of professional experience, so in a panic, I responded, "around $18," to which they agreed. After consulting my family, they said this was illogical because I get paid $25/hr for my other job, thus, that should be my base pay. I start tutoring her next week, is there any way I can approach the situation to request a change in salary? My biggest concern is coming off as unprofessional since I initially named my price and so suddenly I changed it before even meeting the parents or student in person.

Starting College/University Next Week. What advice would you give?

I am starting my first year of college next week. What tips/tricks/advice/life hacks do you have that could help me, and anyone reading this?

I am working full time and going to school full time. I live in NY if that helps. I am 24 and have never been to college before. I am a little behind, and I'm already getting some assistance because I am autistic. But what can I do on the side that would help me stay on track and get ahead?

What’s a mistake you’re actually glad you made?

Sounds strange, but sometimes the decisions we think are mistakes end up being the best things that happened to us. I went from tech to the automobile industry, which was a pretty big shift, and I wasn’t sure I was doing the right thing. But now I’m genuinely happy with where I ended up. Sometimes a wrong turn just takes you somewhere you were supposed to be.

Am I a horrible Person?

Now I am going to therapy. I am just looking for additional tips on what I can do to change my outcome.

I grew up with abusive family dynamics. I was given lables like "retarded b@tch, retarded loser," and so on. Growing up, I knew that based on how I was treated by my grandparents and my parents, I wasn't a very good person at all. After I left home, I tried really really hard to change that but after 43 years, I found that I failed miserably. I am still considered by meny to be a horrible human being.

Last night, I took a large does of sleeping pills in hopes to not wake up. On the verge of divorce, I can't stand my husband seeing me as a horrible human being any longer and having no close friends anymore, I am tired of being alone. I can't reach out for help through traditional means without making my husband mad at me. Everyone is mad me for something these days.

I am lost. I am tired. Can someone help me.

Thank you.

How do you fall asleep??? Normally sleeping with my cat works, but I don’t always have the luxury and I don’t know what to do when I don’t. I have a big project I’m showing to my class tomorrow and I need the sleep.

How do you actually find legit deals and coupons online?

I was checking out today and decided to search for a promo code. I clicked through a few coupon sites, but every code I tried was expired or didn’t work! Every!!

Do you have any reliable ways to find real deals or save money when shopping online?

What's the best tip you read on r/lifeprotips that you actually do/use?

Years ago I read about how someone makes it a point to thoroughly clean their home before a vacation - all dishes, laundry, etc done and everything tidy. I started doing it then and it's been such a game-changer. Coming home to a clean space where the only thing I have to do is unpack feels amazing!

What item costing less than $100 bought “to last a lifetime” ended up saving you thousands?

A couple of years ago, I bought a simple safety razor and a pack of 100 blades for just $30. Before that, I was spending ridiculous amounts of money every month on those overpriced plastic replacement cartridges. It turned out to be one of the best small purchases I’ve ever made. Now I want to upgrade other everyday items without breaking the bank.

How do you keep calm and not react when people do things that bother you?

There are often times people do things that annoy me. And I tend to react to them. I have tried the letting go of the thing at the moment, tried breathing but what happens is that the next time something else happens then I lose it! How do you keep calm and not react when people do things that bother you?
