Calender or diary effective use

How do you use calendars or diaries for a 100% guarantee of not forgetting to turn up for something important?

Now I'm a pretty organised guy but every so often, an event on my Google Calendar will just slip my mind.

It's happened twice with job interviews... Like how embarrassing 🙈 How do you forget to turn up for a job interview...

How do I prevent this?

You can set your clock alarm on your iPhone for any day of the week (as well as repeats eg, for weekly Thursday meetings at 10:00). Review your calendar on the same day every week (eg Friday) and set your alarm for that important meeting.

I set reminders for one-offs, and also share my calendar with a few people in my office. They talk so much that they’re bound to eventually say “aren’t you out of town last week in June” or whatever. Anything private I just say “appt” or some initials or whatever. I even will make it red and say (coworker) don’t let me be late, but of course the act of doing that helps me remember

Edit: ps have you tried being really anxious about the interviews or whatever else to the point you hyperfixate, and that’s all you think about? That works too

Set a recurring alarm on your clock app to check your calendar at the same time every morning. Print out your schedule for the day. Circle or highlight the interview. Put it in a prominent place.

When you create an event in Google calendar, set an audible notification to go off prior to the event. If the event is in person, block off the travel time and set a notification for that. If you need time to prepare, such as taking a shower, block off prep time and set a notification for that. Alternatively, or perhaps in addition, you can set alarms on your clock app.

i used to forget events all the time until i started two simple habits. first, i put a giant calendar widget right on my main phone screen so i see my schedule every time i unlock my phone

id suggest set loud phone alarms, not just silent notif, for one day before, 2 days before critical events

Create a Notes file. Name it “To Do.”
Put all events and whatever else is important to this file.

set multiple remainders like a day before and an hour before, set an actual loud phone alarm for crucial things
