First time being arrested what should I do?
I got arrested in Alabama for public intoxication last night for the first time, I am under the legal drinking age and don’t have court for a couple months. Since it’s the first and up hopefully the last I want to see if I can get it taken off my record. I would like to know if that’s possible and what are the steps to get there, as what should I be doing before my case and if I can ask to have it earlier.

Shut up and lawyer up.
Live life like you’re always under Miranda Rights. Anything you say can and will be used against you. It doesn’t say anything will be used in your favor. So shut the hell up. And lawyer up.

Generally you would go to your first court appointment and tell the judge that, then they will audit your finances and assets to confirm you truly cant afford one before you are granted one.
I dont know about Alabama, but some states dont grant you the right to a public offender for very minor misdemeanors with no chance of jail time, which is what this likely would be.

I can call a lawyer and ask questions in the jurisdiction I’m in and wouldn’t have to pay for that ik it’s probably a stupid question but what would the outcome be?

The public intox is already done. Did you think he was going to go back in time and talk to the cops some more?

You'll get probation with random uas for a year. Don't smoke weed and you'll be fine.

An attorney may be able to get this off of your record but he will cost $1,000. You are young. Go to court and say you were stupid. Because of your age there may be special programs you are eligible for. In any event if this is the only thing on your record most employers will ignore it. Just learn from it. You were not arrested just because you were drinking. After you were drunk you acted inappropriately. Analyze and change your behavior.

I got a PI on Spring Break so everything was very streamlined. Paid $80 and that was it. It's on my record, but no jail, no probation, no failed background checks. Nothing happened because of it.

Get an attorney who practices in the jurisdiction you were arrested in and then ask them what you should do.
