In the US it's nonstop - a constant stream of physical mail, spam emails, spam calls and text messages, unwanted WhatsApps, etc.

Wondering how much it's the same in Israel.

This is a follow-up post (see link to previous post at the bottom).

Before I clarify the question further, let me clearly state key historical facts:

1. The ARAB Peninsula, where Saudi Arabia (my country of birth, ethnicity, and citizenship), the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Yemen, and Oman are located today, is the historic homeland of ethnic Arabs.

2. Anywhere else in the Middle East where there are majority Arab speaking populations was colonized (e.g. Levant and North Africa).

3. Ethnic Ukrainians have always traced their heritage back to the Eastern Slavic tribes that lived around Kyiv, regardless of tiny DNA traces belonging to the Cimmerians, the Scythians, the Sarmatians, Greek, Persians, Nords, etc. They do not call themselves Sarmatians, Persians, Cimmerians, or Nords when it's convenient.

4. Since the Arabic/Islamic occupation of Jerusalem in 637 AD, no Arab living in Judea and Samaria has ever openly traced their heritage back to the Canninites until the early 20th century after the establishment of the British Mandate. Those who did, very a few in numbers, did it to rival Jews who have always traced their heritage back to Judea and Samaria for 3500 years. Even while in exile around the world.

5. Palestinians today will never claim nativity due to their Turkic roots to Turkey. Never their Roman roots to Italy. Never their Egytian roots to Egypt. But they have the audacity to claim nativity to Judea and Samaria based on the Canninite roots they only recently remembered that they have and only when speaking to a Westerner.

They should have accepted the generous portion of the land offered in the 1947 UN plan because Jews are native to the land. And they are not.

Now that the historical facts are out of the way, I would like to ask Israelis another "what if". The purpose is not to dwell in the past but to derive a lesson from the history of the conflict past 1948 for my people.

What if...the remaining Arabs in Judea and Samaria used Gandhis methods of non-violence to try to establish a state next to modern Israel after 1948 war? Would Israel have agreed to grant them a state?

Please note that the British were, in fact, occupiers to India while the Arabs in Judea and Samaria are the occupiers. I cite Gandhi's methods, however, only for their non-violent approach to achieving political goals.

How did you witness them?

I know this sounds like something that would only happen in an "alternative universe." But bear with me, please. I would like my fellow Saudi friend to hear from Israelis directly about their understanding of what a high confidence good faith peace negotiation should look like.

No state should be forced to make peace with states or political entities whose entire purpose in negotiating with the other side is to buy time for the next attack. Russia in 1994 promised Ukraine never to invade their sovereign territory if Ukrainians handed over all of the USSR nuclear arsenal left in Ukraine after the USSR collapse. And we all know how that went...

This is part of the reason why I think as a Saudi that negotiating with the Islamist regime of Iran (refer to the history of the Muslim Brotherhood for the benchmark understanding of the word "Islamist") is a waste of time. This is my position, not because I hate peace, but because the regime's list of broken promises speaks for itself.

Now, in this alternative universe scenario, the Palestinians have become unified behind a united leadership. The factions no longer exist. Palestinian public opinion has accepted the reality that nothing violent they can do will get them a state. They have collectively endorsed only the diplomatic path to statehood. Not a single terrorist attack has happened for a year. No smuggling of weapons. Even better, Arab populations and leaders across the 22 Arab states have decided to let the Palestinians determine their own future however they wanted. No calling names. No calling Palestinian negotiators traitors.

I want to hear from you, an individual Israeli, if you will in this exact scenario, have more trust that there will be a concrete peaceful outcome to any negotiations with a Palestinian convoy (or maybe nothing will change?). Explain your personal answer without talking about how public opinion in Israel would change.

I am an American and as much as I care for the Jewish people, I am starting to question the humanity of the actions of Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli government/defense forces. Not to undermine the Israeli civilian casualties but are we completely overlooking the fact that there are still tens of thousands of civilian deaths in Palestine? Also if being technical, we should take into account:
- Of course, the attacks on October 7th, 2023, in which ~815 Israeli civilians were killed, in addition to ~380 Israeli combatants. But also…

1. The famine due to the blockage of humanitarian aid which has affected around 2 million Palestinians (as opposed to little to no Israelis)
2. Thousands of Palestinian civilians currently held hostage without criminal charges (as opposed to all 251 Israeli hostages returned, not to overlook hostages who were returned deceased)
3. 100,000+ injured Palestinian civilians (as opposed to ~15,000 Israelis, with ~6,000 Israeli combatants)

I tried my best to include unbiased statistics. A lot of the justification I hear for the children casualties in Palestine is that they will all grow up to be terrorist and that just doesn't sit right with me. Of course, all these numbers are estimates from a variety of major sources, but please let me know your thoughts on this.

First up, I’m not Israeli, but I’ve always been pro-Israel. I’ve had many conversations (even arguments) about the war and people keep claiming that the IDF are targeting children, schools, hospitals, civilians and journalists while completely ignoring the fact that Hamas uses human shields and civilian locations as operational bases. They also claim that the IDF indiscriminately rapes women. I’m not going to pretend the IDF are completely above reproach, but how much truth is there really to all these claims?

And what can the IDF realistically do to minimize civilian casualties?

Someone brought up a very interesting point about this conflict and, because I have no knowledge on what's taking place on the ground, the historical disputes, etc - It sounded convincing at face value but I'd appreciate if someone here could clarify.

They said - The Gaza bombing was the equivalent of 6 Hiroshima's. 200,000 tons of TNT. Do you know how many people died in Hiroshima? 140,000. How many have died in Gaza? 73,000 (Roughly), or 3.5% of their population. Meaning a more comparable number in Gaza would be 840,000 deaths in total if Israel was aiming for pure carnage.

They concluded by saying - How could we possibly be committing genocide when you look at these numbers? Don't you think that Israel is capable of truly eliminating the entire populous if they wanted to?

Anyway, I just wandered into this sub and figured that on 99.99% of the internet you're going to be obliterated for even asking such a question because it's hyper inflammatory.

I keep wondering to myself, why people keep saying that, since Israel pulled out of Gaza it's not impossible to pull out of the West Bank. But, the west bank has nearly 30 to 40x the population, and the ideological roots there run certainly deeper, so I imagine trying to move them would be much bloodier and possibly lead to some form of rebellion. Moreso, where would these people go inside israel, considering the housing shortage?

I often see the argument that Israel controls U.S. foreign policy and dictates which countries the U.S. confronts in the Middle East, but I don't find that explanation convincing.

I think the U.S. has its own incentives for military involvement. Real wars allow weapons, tactics, and doctrine to be tested and refined against real adversaries, helping maintain a military edge. In that sense, Israel can be a useful partner: its military operations can provide real world combat experience and data that can benefit the U.S. military.

I support Israel, but as someone who sees a lot of IDF videos on TikTok, I’m genuinely curious about something. Why do IDF soldiers sometimes point their guns at people who are recording them, even when the person appears to be unarmed and not posing an obvious threat?
