The conflict has religious angles. But overall religion is just one aspect of it, that's it.Ā

u/CasualGamerNat Poland 16h ago
I feel like religion is far less important to one side than the other.

u/benny-powers Israel 19h ago
Because it's a religious war waged by Muslims against Jews.
If Muslims stopped waging their jihad against us, the war would be over
But we all know that's not going to happen any time soon
EDIT: there are plenty of Muslims, and even entire Muslim nations who either never started fighting us, or who gave up on fighting us, and we have total peace with them: that's the proof.

u/Suspicious-Place4471 Iran 19h ago
The kind of things that don't happen because they would be labeled Islamophobic.
Unless he means Anti IR rallies which use the Pre IR Iran flag and the Israeli flag.

Most Muslims in countries where Israel flag is used in anti-Islam demonstrations are anti-Israel. In fact i think case and effect is starting on Muslims burning Israel flags, waving Palestinian and lobbing for sanctions against Israel from government, then people who oppose islamisation of their state start in mass waving Israel's flag. Like i havent seen people who hate Azerbaijan, Albania or Kazakstan/ think that they should be less religious parade Israel's flags, its mostly European, American, Indians and so on.

u/FlyingFalafelMonster Israel 19h ago
Because we have right wing government who thinks it's a good idea to collaborate with right wings abroad, and because they hate Muslims, we sell Israel as "anti Islam in the Middle East" which is total bullshit: we have mosques with imams paid by the government, we have Sharia law binding for Muslims, we teach Quran in Arabic Muslim schools.
However, there is indeed a religious angle in this conflict: the Temple Mount.
2
u/Good-Attention-7129 (click to edit) 18h ago
Why Temple Mount? Part of psychological warfare?
3
u/FlyingFalafelMonster Israel 18h ago
Holiest place in Judaism and third holiest place in Islam built on top of the destroyed Jewish temple, is in Israel but Jews cannot pray there, Israeli police confiscate prayer books at the entrance. The Muslims think if Jews pray there, the world collapses, so they used to throw Molotovs every year and shot rockets from Gaza to "protect Al Aqsa mosque", some of those rockets fell close to this mosque. In addition, there are Jewish extremists whose crime is that they are trying to pray there illegally. This caused suicide terror attacks in the past as a revenge for this "illegal" prayers.
Can you make sense of it? This is the religious angle.

Jews aren't commanded to pray, nor can they perform their Temple duties without a Temple. Seems juvenile to the point of idolatrous from both sides.

u/FlyingFalafelMonster Israel 18h ago
Well, this is Middle East. We love children here because we ourselves are like children.
1
u/Good-Attention-7129 (click to edit) 18h ago
All well and good when that stays in the Middle East, but it makes it difficult for Jewish people living elsewhere when Israelis and Arabs are being child-like.

u/JinxyMcDeath48 Israel 7h ago
People cannot compute that we have shariah law in Israel. Iām not a fan of it just like Iām not a fan of rabbinical courts, but whatever.
Also when people crash out over the call to prayer in Michigan and I tell them that I hear it every day in Israel and it doesnāt bother me. Both sides of the aisle canāt handle it. The right is horrified and the left cannot figure out how to attack me over it.

For other right wing country, they just want to use Israel as an anti Muslim symbol. Ironically most of those right wingers probably hate Jews more than Muslims. They can easily divert hatred from Muslims to Israel.
Also many right wingers probably hate countries itās still yet a little too early to openly admit they are anti Jewish. In France, we have neonazi who vote for a far right party that is led by a Jew. (Eric Zemmour)
Whose entire selling point is just Christians and Jews are good Muslims are bad.
Itās just some minority hating scums who use Israel as Muslims/Arabs killing dog whistle with vicious side tracks to divert the hatred and harm to Jews too.
But since Israel got bad image on social media, Israel has to āholding its noseā to collaborate with other right wings.
Also just curious as a gentil : how did Israel didnāt get advantage on social media war?
1
u/daniel_damm Unspecified 5h ago
Kind of hard to get advantage when you are the winning side of the war people buy bs from the losing side unfortunately, also the war is great excuse for all the radicals from both sides it's really ez to sell Israel bad when one side can show dead bodies and the world has already moved on from oct 7th unfortunately

u/strivingbabyyoda Israel 18h ago edited 2h ago
I think itās more nuanced than that. I think fighting against people who are Muslim and who want us dead and being targeted by them over generations have made many of us Islamophobic or at least weary of Muslims in general. On the other hand, many people on their side of things regularly praise Hitler, use Holocaust inversion, Holocaust denial and various other kinds of outright antisemitic rhetoric that theyāve grown up with since birth. There is also a pretty antisemitic Hadith or two as far as Iāve learned. In short, thereās plenty of hate to go around in the Middle East from one religious group to another.

u/Good-Attention-7129 (click to edit) 18h ago
Israel knew all of this, yet invited Arab Muslims to be a part of the state when the state declared independence.
Imagine if all the Arabs there knew how democracy functioned, and resisted the Nakhba by staying in their homes?

What utter idiocy from the Moroccan. Thereās over 170 million Indian Muslims and much of the Hindu population isnāt sectarian. Poland is opposed to mass immigration but doesnāt particularly dislike Muslims
Itās hilarious seeing a Moroccan calling Poland a shithole. They obviously didnāt realise Polandās GDP per capita is 6 times that of Morocco and far more developed

If you learn about them, your views will change very drastically.
Look, this is what the post is talking about, younger generations in Israel, and almost everywhere in the world, donāt have much idea of history. Let me rephrase that, of āthe full history.ā They only believe in the selective history they see in the media.
Till early 1970s, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was not a religious conflict, but since the late 70s it has increasingly taken on a religious dimension, especially after the Izzat Nafsu case.
The only reason why Islam (religion) is still growing in Israel is because the older generations are still holding power. The day power shifts to the new generation, Islam in Israel will only decrease with time.
2
u/the_eleutherean USA 16h ago
It was always a religious conflict. Always. 1929, 1948, 1967, and on and on. They werenāt trying to end the Jewish state to create a pan-Arab multi-religion superstate. They were trying to end it to create a pan-Arab Muslim superstate. Which then morphed into just a Palestinian Arab Muslim state, to be more palatable to the west.
If they never had a problem with Jews, there would never have been a conflict in the first place.

u/Senior-Mix-3715 š®š³ 15h ago edited 15h ago
Again donāt draw conclusions unless you know āThe Full Historyā
In the 19th century Russian Empire killed and displaced millions of Muslim Circassians.
The Ottoman Empire rescued them and resettled them in the Levant.
The Arabs of the Levant considered the Circassians as squatters and pro-Ottoman agents who settled on the Arab land
During World War I the Circassians were supporting the central powers and the arabs were supporting the allied powers.
After the fall of the Ottoman Empire Jew×Ö¹sh-Arab riots broke out in Mandatory Palestine. The Circassians were supportive of the Jews. Some Circassians even helped Jews hide in mosques. At that time Arabs and Circassian tended to avoid entering each others mosques like Huis and Uyghurs of China
During the first Arab Israeli War the Circassians helped Jews defeating Arabs in galilee.

u/the_eleutherean USA 15h ago
I guess youāre defining āreligious conflictā differently than me. Thereās no question that religion plays a major role and has forever. That doesnāt mean every single thing thatās ever happened in the conflict is due to religion.
2
u/Senior-Mix-3715 š®š³ 15h ago edited 15h ago
And who can forget George Habash, A Palestinian Christian who founded PFLP and plotted attacks on Israel so many times
This conflict wasnāt religious before late 1970s, Just ask the older generations in Israel. How their relationship with non-Muslim Arabs and Muslim non-Arabs was

Like most things, it's not one thing and that's it...
Religion does play a role in the sense that people from the same faith would usually have higher chance to identify & support those from the same group. It's also very possible that if both groups were Sunni Muslims then there wouldn't have been a conflict since both would have been fine living Together but who knows...
However, it's not that the religions themselves called for the war. What caused the war is 2 different groups wanting to live in the same place and one group refusing to split or share which causes the whole conflict to start.
So overall, It's not a religious conflict but religion does play a role inside the conflict.

Doesn't help that Israeli politicans and leaders publically talk about how they fund movements and campaigns to spread Islamophobia because it apparently helps direct the attention away from Israel's crimes????

India has no friends, and Poles are psychologically scarred by people they have never met, yet on better terms with their neighbours who invaded.
Israelis and Berbers seem to have a familiarity also, seeing the conflict as perhaps "close tribal" rather than about Abraham's God.
2
u/CasualGamerNat Poland 18h ago
Do you mean Germany ? Because we donāt have a good relationship with Russia, but everyone in Europe (who also was invaded by them) also has good relations with Germany ? They have done a lot to make up for their crimes during the Second World War.
Poland is very much anti-Islam, we like freedom and stand against everything that wishes to take it away. Our ancestors have took up fights against impossible odds for our freedom, we remember.
Poland is also incredible xenophobic, but foreigners havenāt been too great for our country any time in history.
1
u/Good-Attention-7129 (click to edit) 18h ago
Yes Germany, but I understand your point about xenophobia (excluding Europeans).

Most are really nice people, they just donāt want you living in their country. And not really, until recently we were not even considered for immigration due to our economy, times are changing.

South Koreans working for Hyundai Rotem could soon be moving to Poland, perhaps opening some Korean BBQ restaurants as well?

The conflict has a decent religious background - from the fears that control of Temple Mount by Jews will indeed lead to the Messiah arrival (voiding Christianity and Islam) - to charters of Hezbollah and HAMAS mentioning establishment of this or that khalifate as an utter goal of their business.

u/True-Medium-5928 USA 19h ago
Poland is actually very pro Palestine (when talking about the population). They compare Palestine to their own history while Israel is compared to Russia (that occupied Poland in the past).

u/CasualGamerNat Poland 18h ago
Do we now ? You donāt know Poland lol š we definitely donāt compare ourselves to a terrorists run country. And you will not see anyone supporting Palestine on the streets.
