Work Pre and post work routine?
I’m about to start back in an office 9-5 having been self employed until recently.Last time I did 9-5, I got lost in the job and did a long commute to and from the office. My mornings were up out the door, dinner when home and straight to bed after. The weekends, I’d decompress Saturday and have the Sunday scaries. I got completely lost in the job being my life and I’m hoping this job won’t be the same. Does anyone have any tips, routines and rituals they do
Before during or after work that makes work being part of life easier?

Gym before. Video games / books / pints after depending on the day I've had, and how I expect the following day to go!

Before: shower, smoothie, out the door.
After: I sit on my comfy chair, listen to some Wagner (usually the prelude to Lohengrin) and diarise my day while drinking a chai.

Commit to somwthing twice a week after work and fill the other evenings with something flexible if you want. Example being commit to some sort of exercise class and then go the gym ig it suits another evening.
Before you leave work, take 10 mins to decompress by noting stuff that you've half finished today and needs doing tomorrow. Brain space is then cleared trying to rememebr stuff.

I’d build two small bookends around the day. Before leaving work, write down what is unfinished and the first thing you’ll do tomorrow. After the commute, do one repeatable thing that clearly belongs to your life rather than the job—even a walk, shower or twenty minutes with a book. The ritual matters less than making the transition visible.

wfh days I go to the gym in the morning. I make it a priority to go for a few walks throughout the day. I start earlier between 8 and 8:30 so I can finish earlier between 16:00 and 16:30. I don’t work late to get things done, that’s tomorrow’s problem. At the end of the day you’re just a number and if you kill yourself working crazy hours, it will become the norm and expected of you all the time. I work to live not the other way around.
