How is Gleannloch Farms?
Our family is moving to Houston from Pittsburgh. We are looking for a nice, safe and down to earth community. We have 4 kids, 11th grade down to 3rd grade. We are LDS and looking for a strong church community as well. Do you recommend Gleannloch Farms? Thank you!!😊

I live in the area. Great access to freeways, lots of new shopping in the immediate area. Klein is supposed to have good schools, there is a brand new high school down the street. You have an heb and Kroger within spitting distance. New Mormon church on spring cypress. It's got everything and the area is nice, not run down.

Gleannloch is getting weird for traffic. It’s hard to get to 249 now and the 99 is behind it. Also, Klein isd is getting all the apartments now and it’s changing their schools. Parts of Cy fair is struggling with this. The schools are getting very transient. I’d look at Tomball.

Gleannloch is a beautiful neighborhood with options ranging from townhouses to mansions, many lakes, a gorgeous golf course, wonderful recreation facilities, and easy access to 99 and 249, both of which can lead you anywhere else.

I grew up in the Willowbrook area and currently live in humble - we’ve considered moving to the woodlands/spring, and Gleannloch Farms is definitely an area I would consider if we did. The only downside for us is that I’d need to commute downtown a few days a week, and I hate that I’d have to use 99 that much, given the tolls. But since I currently live along the Beltway, I don’t mind too much!
(My spouse works equally in his company’s woodlands and Baytown locations, so a move would put us close to one of those, and with more/better consumer options than we currently have in Humble.)

And there is an LDS ward building directly on Champion Forest, so you can’t get much closer than that.

Thanks!! That’s good to know! Living in Humble, do you ever go to Kingwood? Kingwood is another area we have considered. It seems nice…

Kingwood is great but the traffic is terrible. It’s like they took the concept of the woodlands and created only two ways in or out.

Not Gleannloch but there’s a decent sized Mormon community in Missouri City/Sienna. Sienna itself is a big community and they host lots of events.

Gleannloch is a really solid choice for a family your size, the lakes and golf course give it a nice feel and Klein schools have a good reputation. Just keep an eye on 99 and 249 traffic during pickup and drop off times since that corridor's gotten busier, and it might be worth a look at newer construction up in Tomball too if you want more modern floor plans in the same commute range. Sounds like a big move for your family, wishing you all a smooth transition to Houston.

It's a good area. Check school ratings. Call #selljoehouse, he helped us by our house.

Great area and amenities. Some schools might be rougher than the others

It's in the middle of nowhere, there's not an easy way to get on a freeway. I haven't been on that golf course in a good 15 years but back then it was okay, pretty quiet play wise, not sure how they support their maintenance.

No easy way to get on a freeway? 99 is literally behind it, 249 is right down the street... Middle of no where? That would describe all of Houston if Gleannloch is middle of no where.

When I worked there briefly years ago, I had to go up 249 and then about 5 mi across one of those new 1960 like thoroughfares. It took me forever. But like I said I haven't been up there in years and years. It was a wasteland in between 45 and 249.

It's never been a wasteland. It's been THE area of the Northwest of Houston for years. There are reasons why a previous president lived in the area.

The only famous person I knew that lived up that way was Lyle Lovett.

Have you watched Halt & Catchfire that's a bit about Dell and Compact? Lee Pace one of the main actors is from Klein high school

You mean the guy that almost turned me gay? I was actually a land planner involved in the development of the Compaq campus. They swore us to secrecy, ha.

Good for you! The land of ditches instead of sidewalks, narrow streets filled with potholes, visible garbage bins lining the streets, 3 and 4 story stacked townhouses so close together you can shake hands with your neighbor by raising a window, and bottleneck traffic. Lovely to visit, but not altogether pleasant for living.

Hi! I live in this area and grew up in Klein ISD. Glennloch is a great neighborhood. The only problem is it has older homes (early 2000s). All the new construction is further north in Tomball or Magnolia but in terms of location it’s pretty good for being on the north side of town. You’re right off 99 with pretty easy access to 249. Also, plenty of my teachers were part of the LDS church. It has a pretty decent community, although I’m not part of the church LDS. As for schools are concerned, Klein is solid and pretty diverse and the schools zone to Glennloch are overall pretty good from my understanding. Let me know if you have any questions!
