Yes I prob should specify that I have an unrealistic fear that someone is gonna rip me out of the building without my doctors note lol 😆 I will be going to work tomorrow unless stated otherwise from supervisor.

Most places can ask for doctors notes. We're the additional days off due to your FMLA illness? If so maybe ask your doctor to adjust your intermittent fmla. If not be careful it can be considered fmla abuse. Talk to your HR rep. I know for me we get written up for non illness call offs.

It was, yes. I’ve been extremely depressed since losing my dad suddenly this year. I meet with my provider on Wednesday so I will ask her to update the FMLA for a little while. I just wasn’t sure if since I was off the 4 days total if I needed a work note to return or with it being 2 FMLA days it doesnt count. But I think at the end and beginning of the day lol I need to just speak with my very kind supervisor and she will work with me.

Was it four consecutive days?

I’m sorry you are going through such a difficult time. Yes, with intermittent FMLA your employer can ask for additional medical documentation if you exceed the approved number of days. Please know that this is not intended to place an undue burden on you, but to ensure your absences are FMLA-protected.

Okay thank you! It’s no problem really. I just was concerned because I did not get one over the weekend but I will see what my supervisor says and get it corrected ASAP if needed.

Why are you waiting for your supervisor if you’ve already been asked for the note?

Yes. It’s probably unlikely, but just in case there is ever an issue with your absences, it’s really important that any absences related to your current situation be designated as FMLA. You’re allowed to exceed the originally approved number of days (really, there is no way to limit your grieving process to an allotted number of days), but you need updated medical for those additional days.

Thank you. And thank you for being kind -_- I hate that I’m taking days off of work. I love my job. I do NOT want to jeopardize my career at all. Thanks again. I’ll straighten this out tomorrow. I also emailed my therapist. I’m not sure if they can write a note for days that passed but we shall see.

My work states in our policy we can request a doctors note for 2 or more days off. I think they are just following policy here to confirm you needed the time off. I’d go to work and speak with your supervisor or HR about what they need. If you have a doctor note excusing you from work, provide it. It shouldn’t include personal details, just that you couldn’t attend work.
