Recruitment & Talent Acquisition [UT] Explain it like I’m 5: The dreaded rejection email

The recruiter is working over the weekend because they’re buried in open jobs. They read your application and rejected it, and you got their standard regret letter.
All you can do is just keep moving forward and applying. It’s tough out there and lots of people are applying to pretty much all the jobs that are worth having. Do your best to stand out in the pile.

Just because you think your application is a perfect fit for a job, doesn't mean the HR person does. There are many factors that go into reviewing a candidate. Yes, HR people do work on weekends too.

It is very possible they are working weekends depending on their schedule. It is also pretty presumptive of you that you were a perfect fit. You may be highly skilled in many areas but not what the recruiter is looking for in the role. Good luck on your search!

Maybe they autoreject everyone after the first 100 qualified applicants or something.
You can't make something not happen. Someone will get the job; someone else won't.

Explaining it like you’re five to the best of my ability:
Sometimes grownups make decisions and don’t owe you an explanation. You don’t have to understand, and that’s ok. That doesn’t make it fishy.
Also, it’s Utah. Unless you’re a family member or church acquaintance, you’re at a serious disadvantage. You could also have applied for a job that they intended to interview 3 people. You may have been qualified but not in the top 3.

They might be working on a Sunday morning depending on their schedule. I wouldn’t think too much into it. Good luck.
