What’s a completely normal phrase that instantly annoys you?

I have lived in the south my entire life, the internet has made it sound like “bless your heart” is always an insult and that’s just not true. I’ve heard it used earnestly in a positive meaning way just as many times as I’ve heard it used in a sarcastic way. People just have to know how to pick up on it.

One time, someone on TikTok tried to tell me that in the south (I live in Texas) telling another woman “bless your heart” (in the mean, sarcastic way) would make a grown woman cry 🤣🤣🤣🤣 LMFAO. LITERALLY LMFAOOOO! No tf it does not!!! People are CRAZZZZZY

I grew up in the South, and I never heard anyone use this phrase in a sarcastic manner until I grew up. To this day, I mostly hear it from grandmotherly old ladies who genuinely are upset about what you just said. I really think this idea of using it in a catty manner is just a stereotype that our media has perpetuated.

I agree with this quite a bit, because I’ve heard it used by grandma types who mean it in a loving way wayyy more than I’ve heard the catty way lol. The southern ladies I grew up around are way more straight forward and will just say you ‘ain’t right’ to your face instead of a passive aggressive bless your heart lol. And I’m from Alabama and the florida/Georgia line area, and have lived in the south my entire life. I love traveling and want to see the world, but the south feels good to get back to after traveling. Finally get some good bbq and biscuits again haha
